low oil pressure

in laws lly is having low oil pressure issues.. anyone know what the thread and pitch is on a oil galley plug so maybe I can put a mechanical gauge on it?

truck dings low oil pressure at idle only when warm but runs somewhat normal driving at temp so wanna see what a mechanical gauge shows see if its a bad sending unit

Harbor freight has a pretty cheap mechanical gauge kit that comes with a 14x1.5 fitting among others. I've used it in the past and it works just fine.

In a pinch you can drill and tap the oem block plug to 1/8" npt. The plug is just mild steel and drills easy.

Can't you use one of the ports in the oil cooler/filter adapter? They're 3/8" pipe thread aren't they?

Sunpro has an electric one for 30 bucks on amazon. I use that as my fuel pressure gauge in my samurai.

Was it the sending unit? Mine is having the same issue. Didn't start until I threw a p0202/2149 code. I did the ice pick trick and cured the injector plug issue but now I have the low oil pressure at idle.

Did you have to buy the socket or would a box end wrench work? Located close to the front of the engine?

No its back of the engine it's just in front of the oils filter/cooler housing you'll need a deep socket and a bendy breaker bar

Removed the sending unit. It wasn't tight at all so I assume it's been changed before. No gunk on it at all. Reinstalled and pulled my ecu fuse and unhooked the oil line from the turbo. I had my son crank the engine over and sure enough oil came squirting out the line. My guess it's the sending unit. Anyone else have any suggestions?
