    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

If the turbo is bad, does the 63.5 actually fix it? It doesn’t come with any bearing or anything. I was looking at pricing a custom filter setup and I think by the time it’s done with dual filters and all the fittings it would be $300 which basically matches the airdog price That option...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

I wouldn’t say I’m set on replacing it, I guess I’m just assuming it’s bad right now. Thanks everyone for the info in the thread, this has been great learning. The 63.5/64 being able to hurt my stock motor puts it into perspective. I guess I was thinking they were a little milder than...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Yeah that’s exactly my concern. If I don’t see posts pop up about people rebuilding them on here or the other big 2 forums, it’s probably not a good idea. I really don’t know much about turbo size to power, or how big the stock one even is. Can you put it into perspective what a 63.5 and...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Yeah it’s around $900, which isn’t necessarily cheap... but better than a full drop in and essentially handles the rebuild part. The 63.5 is half the price but doesn’t really handle the rebuild if it has shaft play, I think? I’m with you though if it comes down to it, lift pump over turbo...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

LDS doesn’t have heavy duty bolts for the return lines? I was thinking to do the turbo for more of a rebuild because of the mileage and unknown condition. Is it a bigger upgrade than I’m thinking? Can I just rebuild the one in there now? Should I step down to the 63.5 for half the price?

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Absolutely! I love doing this type of stuff, but this time I'll be flying/driving 350 miles to the truck each weekend trying to finish it before I can bring it back up the 350 miles... I was just curious, so I got a quote from a reputable shop and @ $120/hr it is just hard to swallow. So sounds...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

I talked with LDS today, I'm getting ready to bite the bullet and order stuff. I talked to Walter and he sold me pretty hard on SAC 45's - LDS has been working with them for a while now and they really know them inside out, they test and build them in house, they offer a 3 year warranty on...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

It looks like new lines are only $200, and I’ve seen people share that actually fully cleaning the lines yourself is near impossible to get rid of everything. If it is only $200 for new lines, it’s worth it to not risk pumping crud through the injector. Glad to know I can get by with the...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

From my research, it's stupid to skimp on injectors and not do new cups and new lines. LDS's "Exclusive Injector Install Kit" looks to have everything, but am I missing anything or is it more than I need? It asks about "OEM GM HP Lines" or "NEW OEM GM HP Lines" - is one just lines that...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Good point on the stock filter head for priming, but I thought I recalled my Kennedy single pump on the LBZ had a button on it to prime it? Making me feel a lot better about the decision. Now I'm just getting antsy to start - truck is about 400 miles away from me and has been sitting for...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

I called to check the price, it’s $925 for the LDS Super Sport LBZ CP3. So only $125 more than an LB7 one Might be worth it just for the ability to move red line past 3k rpm

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Does the LBZ pump give me anything other than headroom for more power? I saw that 63.5 wheel and cover. Is it easy enough to refurbish my old exhaust housing and slap that wheel and cover on? Never done turbo work before. That’s good to hear! What type of stuff have you done for either...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Oh that’s a good idea LDS has a new factory LB7 CP3 for $800 or an LBZ one for an LB7 with an unlisted price... It’s probably not in the budget this round, but I think I’d eventually need/want to replace the turbo. No idea how many miles are on it. Given my power goals, should I just reman...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

So skipping the head work (assuming compression check is good), going with SAC00s, a new CP3 or LDS LBZ supersport?, and Kennedy pump with filter and separator while deleting factory head... should I be worried about the existing fuel lines? No telling how much crud is in them, and sealing up...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Whoa, cool. Real nice of you to open source that to the community. So I take it this tune wouldn't need any adjustments for SAC00's? At my power level desires, I don't see the need for 45s? Also, I've got a ZF6, there's no torque management so all that power is going down right away ... also...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Also, if it makes any difference, the plan for this truck performance wise isn’t a whole lot. I’d like to crank it up to maybe 450hp 750tq, give or take 50. Basically just enough to “hang” with the new stuff.

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Well that’s kind of good to hear, because it’s not so much the chassis that I’m worried about. I’ve rebuilt enough of these front ends that I know how to “bullet proof” them now basically, and it’s a California truck so hopefully no rust to worry about. The electrical on the other hand is a...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

All good points. I hadn’t thought about the CP3. I don’t have a scanner or monitor to check pressures right now so I wouldn’t know what condition it’s in. The only thing it “needs” is injectors I guess, the rest is just my desire to have things as close to perfect as I can. I think back to...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

I'm looking on input on things to consider, I don't want to be stuck on the side of the road late to work or get out in the morning and not make it. I'm not fully sold on the idea yet. For the first time in 7 or so years I have found myself at a job that does not provide a truck. So, I'm...
