    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Two questions- what is the o ring at #20 called? Was pressure washing the front end and accidentally blasted that thing into orbit. Also, is this diagram and others like it from All Data? I’m considering getting it for this truck. Edit: also, no banjo washers are to be reused correct? I...

Any way you can look it up who yellow Chevy recommended? I’d rather rebuild than go bigger, based off the discussion a few pages ago. I just got concerned with rebuild kits when I didn’t see any of the main suppliers I know of carrying them.

Hmm, I’ll see if I can measure it somehow... but I tried wiggling it while rotating to see if it hits anything and doesn’t seem like it... but it’s kinda hard to do. Good to know about surge, I think I can try and manage that. Ha okay, I guess that’s a bit better.

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

I know. I just wasn’t sure if I was supposed to loctite anything else based off things being loose when I got in there.

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Perfect thanks I’m not quite ready to torque yet, I want to relash valves and I lost my feeler gauge. Nearly every valve has play, despite cam location. Haha no need to brag, I’m at about 35 hours and just barely getting the injectors out. But it is my first time, and Im doing the...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Oh and my turbo has some up and down play to it :( I just assumed it would based off the rest of the truck, but I already decided to skip it because of budget. Other than literally already being there ready to replace it, will I regret not doing it now? I’m worried about running Dave’s tune and...

I’m pretty sure my LDS kit came with some, so I assume that stuff is good?

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Alright, wasn’t sure but thanks for clarifying. Definitely trying to do it right and not regret it later. Some of the fuel line fittings under the valve cover were almost finger tight, and some of the valve cover bolts the same way. Looks like the last person to do injectors didn’t torque it...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Finally got the CP3 in and just getting to injectors on driver bank now. None of the cups popped out and I had some serious force pulling the injectors out, is it smart to still pop the cups out and reseal them and re loctite, or if they didn’t come out it’s fine? It doesn’t look like they...

I hope I can remember how it goes back together

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Started tinkering this weekend. I started by trying to finish a few little things from when I did the tcase swap and trans install, like putting the ABS bracket back on ... but that’s easier said than done. Wound up laying on my back for half the day trying to get the damn thing together, and...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Now that you say it, yeah I think I only had the bolts locating and holding it. But I don’t recall any slop at all. Once the centering tool was inserted and everything tightened down, I don’t think I had any concern about it moving. Getting the trans lined back up, that was another story...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

So new question, once I get these 45s and the LBZ CP3 in, will it be driveable without tuning? I was planning on stopping by a buddy’s house and doing the tune upload because he’s already got my vin license, but that’s a 200 mile drive.

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

That’s a great point. I’d rank wheeling and towing ahead of performance for this truck. To be honest, I don’t remember about coolant and temp. I’ve only got about 1200 miles on it since I got it, and it’s been sitting for 8 months since then. I’ll have to check when I start driving it again...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Instead of starting a new thread, I figured I’d ask here - if you had to build a motor from scratch and could only use factory parts, what would you make? I think I’ve seen that LBZ rods and LB7 pistons are the “best”. Are all the blocks the same? Which factory heads are the best? I don’t...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

I liked the Kennedy I had on my LBZ, but I didn’t use any filters, just the pump. I just finally sacked up and pulled the trigger on the 45s, new lines, super sport CP3, and airdog 100. I got a little discount for buying it all at once, and I figure if I apply that towards the airdog it’s...

Do you have links to the filter heads you’re talking about? Do they need adapters or does the CAT filter fit right on the head?

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Oh okay, I get it now. That’s what I thought at first but didn’t understand. I’m not tuning stuff myself like a lot of you guys, so my understanding is just at an armchair general level. I just wanted to make sure you weren’t recommending something else. I’m trying to keep the costs low, but...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

I plan to just replace my CP3 either way, the LDS Super Sport is $100 more than an LB7 unit. I have a pretty much brand new LB7 FPR in my current one. Should I save the $100 and go with the LB7 unit instead? Are you saying tuning will open the LB7 CP3 up past 3k rpm?

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

With an Allison there’s lockup and an tcm/tq management that will kind of protect the motor (at the sacrifice of itself), but with my manual, do I just need to be wary of getting on it too hard in low rpm scenarios? Essentially my right foot becomes the tcm and tq management? Should I only be...
