    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

I decided to pull and redo the cup that I forgot the copper washer in. This is after a full week of drying. How’s the pattern look? It doesn’t look anything like what came out. Given the way that the loctite broke off it looks like it only sealed to the further out dirty part?

I hope so. I’m getting nickel and dimed with the little things to finish this thing up, and even more it’s the wait for parts.

I’m having a hard time figuring this out... switching from my Cali junk to federal, when I put the federal y bridge in will I need to do something with the intercooler piping?

Gotcha. Given the condition of this housing, any other components I should look into? Also, any brand better than the other for coolant or just as long as it’s dexcool?

Wow, anyone seen this before? Looks like some crazy cavitation, or somehow some foreign material got in it. Block and front cover seem fine though.

Has anyone used loctite primer for the injector cups? Reading this document here, it says with inactive metals primer is recommended (stainless cups and aluminum heads) http://wdarc.org/Loctite%20Guide.pdf

Yeah I’m pretty excited, I haven’t really driven this thing in over a year. Even after I put in my rebuilt trans/clutch/t-case I only got a lap around the block.

So far I’ve got all 8 injectors in, the CP3 mounted, and the valves lashed. Still need to change the water pump and harmonic balancer, install the airdog, the up pipe, full exhaust. Hopefully putting everything back together is downhill from here.

Good. Realized I forgot the copper washer in hole #8, had already been setting up for an hour or so. Popped the injector out pretty easy and put it back together. Might tear it all the way down tomorrow, not sure. Orange Not sure brand, what ever it came with when I got it

I think the holdup was I hadn’t fully cleaned everything up. Just got the last injector in and torqued down. Now time to lash valves. I probably should have posted and asked before I got all 8 sealed up... but is this enough loctite? The LDS kit came with two little tubes, and I only...

How do I seat the cup then, just torque down the hold down bracket? I tried sliding the cup in without the O Rings and had to use the puller to get it back out, even without rings I wasn’t able to get it all the way in easily

Perfect thank you for clarifying Shit, if I could get this thing back together and ready to run in 12hr... I’d buy myself a beer haha. It probably won’t run until this following weekend. I was planning on putting the cup in with loctite and new o rings, knocking it into place with a socket...

Oh wow good okay. By the pattern on the cup I removed I thought the whole tapered surface was a sealing surface. So in this picture, there’s clearly a ring around the whole cup - is the sealing surface fine here? Meaning, below that ring I can just leave that crud?

I feel like I should have pressed my luck with leaving the injector cups. Those things were in there good. I busted my elbow reefing on a 4’ pry bar trying to get one out it was so stuck in there. I’ve also got my 12ga cleaning kit, but it’s only hitting what looks like half the sealing...

 I feel pretty dumb about that one haha. Of course it’s obvious now that you say it. Don’t know what I was thinking.

I’m also planning on converting this thing to FE9 Federal from YF5, I got a federal up pipe, gooseneck Y bridge, and federal belt. But I’m wondering, #35 in the diagram I posted goes to the EGR, can I just plug this coolant tube with some rubber line and a bolt and same with the one at the...

    Considering DD'ing 350k mile LB7?

Interesting okay, I'll keep the annealing method as an option. The LDS kit should have me covered under the valve covers. I actually just called them as well and got the part numbers so I'll order some spares. From what I understood there are only 3 sizes of banjo washers used...

Thanks! I may just opt to send it in and have them rebuild it. Price seems fair. But I think that will have to be at a later date, I’m hoping this one isn’t too bad and I can get it to last a bit.
