I’m also planning on converting this thing to FE9 Federal from YF5, I got a federal up pipe, gooseneck Y bridge, and federal belt.

But I’m wondering, #35 in the diagram I posted goes to the EGR, can I just plug this coolant tube with some rubber line and a bolt and same with the one at the firewall? Any other stupid little things I’ll havr to worry about not bolting the egr and vacuum pump back on when I go to put everything back together?

You need to hook it back up to the firewall with a new piece of longer heater hose so you have heat in the winter.

 I feel pretty dumb about that one haha. Of course it’s obvious now that you say it. Don’t know what I was thinking.

I feel like I should have pressed my luck with leaving the injector cups. Those things were in there good. I busted my elbow reefing on a 4’ pry bar trying to get one out it was so stuck in there.

I’ve also got my 12ga cleaning kit, but it’s only hitting what looks like half the sealing surface. The other half looks pitted, and I’m not sure if it’s leftover loctite or if the head is just worn.

That area is not a sealing area. It’s just the small clean area you cleaned. When you put the loctite on, you will just put a small bead in the corner transition from the small mouth of the cup to where it starts to go wide real fast. That’s the only place it seals up

Oh wow good okay. By the pattern on the cup I removed I thought the whole tapered surface was a sealing surface.

So in this picture, there’s clearly a ring around the whole cup - is the sealing surface fine here? Meaning, below that ring I can just leave that crud?

Apply it in that corner. Does not have to be as wide as the ring you see but by the the time you apply it, it usually goes that wide. Apply it when you are fully ready to put them in and install them with the injector. I like to wait 12+ hours if I can to let the loctite set up but I’ve done it in a couple hours and didn’t have a failure.

Perfect thank you for clarifying

Shit, if I could get this thing back together and ready to run in 12hr... I’d buy myself a beer haha. It probably won’t run until this following weekend.
I was planning on putting the cup in with loctite and new o rings, knocking it into place with a socket and punch, then installing injector and torquing down, then repeat with the next one.

Na, put the injector in with the cup. Makes install much easier.

How do I seat the cup then, just torque down the hold down bracket?

I tried sliding the cup in without the O Rings and had to use the puller to get it back out, even without rings I wasn’t able to get it all the way in easily

Might want to see what the hold up is. But yes, the hold down does the work for you. Keeps constant pressure on the loctite so it cures too

I think the holdup was I hadn’t fully cleaned everything up.

Just got the last injector in and torqued down. Now time to lash valves.

I probably should have posted and asked before I got all 8 sealed up... but is this enough loctite? The LDS kit came with two little tubes, and I only used 1 of them.

That’s plenty
Good.

Realized I forgot the copper washer in hole #8, had already been setting up for an hour or so. Popped the injector out pretty easy and put it back together. Might tear it all the way down tomorrow, not sure.
Thats plenty. James treed me

What coolant was in the truck?
Orange

Not sure brand, what ever it came with when I got it

So far I’ve got all 8 injectors in, the CP3 mounted, and the valves lashed.

Still need to change the water pump and harmonic balancer, install the airdog, the up pipe, full exhaust.

Hopefully putting everything back together is downhill from here.
