    Compression Test

Tape a shop vac to the exhaust and set it to blow. Listen for leaks or dump powder of some sort around the manifolds and watch for being it being blown around. Works like a charm! I had a tick like that and it turned out to be an injector copper washer not sealing btw.

    Compression Test

Where are you located? A good tech can do a compression test without even getting his hands dirty using a amp clamp. It won't work if all cylinders are low but will tell you if you have a bent rod or 2. It does sound like an injector issue though.

Brake lines, the old Russell standby like the rest or opt for the the lines pictured

That stuff looks cool but im cheap. I would use the new copper alloy brake line you can buy in bulk and flare yourself. I do brake lines every week at work and that stuff is awesome.

    LBZ odd problem...

I don't think i would waste time checking the engine harness if all sensor inputs are ok according to logs. I would be looking at taking it to a shop that was very good with duramax diagnostics and had all the right tools and info to figure it out.

    LBZ odd problem...

Odd, it almost has to be mechanical if all sensors are looking ok and rail pressure is good. Id be looking into the y bridge to see if something is stuck in there.

Help: Need shop in Boca raton/Miami Florida

That is why i asked what i did earlier. The truck didn't start running bad and backfiring, etc, and then develop the noise, it suddenly started knocking out of the blue which seems to me like the crank broke first and this was a result. Either way this is a rough deal and if i was closer i would...

Help: Need shop in Boca raton/Miami Florida

I have to agree even though im a duramax fan. I put a trans in a 06 cummins with over 400,000 miles and it was at TRE a couple weeks ago with over 600,000 miles for a trans service. Original everything including the rear end a fuel system!

    Thoughts?

Wow that blowby is bad! If i had a truck that close to deaths door i would either pull it and fix it or buy another motor and turn the wick up on that one till it scatters. Lol

    Thoughts?

Blowby isn't a tuning issue..... I've been thinking about trying starlite tunes but I'm almost afraid to mess with it for fear it will bend a rod. LOL
