    Engine and transmission temp high

Could you here the fan engaging? If it's the original clutch on the fan I bet it's toast. Also while fan is removed I flush water back threw the radiator washing it out. They can get packed with dirt and bugs. Also wash out ac condenser. They will run just fine with a bad clutch. But not towing.

    lly or lbz?

No offense!!!! Sounded like you killed this motor. It's hard reading threw this to understand what you are saying. Sounds like you blew a head gasket and repaired it. Then it died 1 hour after driving? The lb7s are though. Wife drove mine without coolant for 20 minutes when the heater hose blew...

    lly or lbz?

Why not stick with the lb7 put the money into a built transmission. Doesn't seem worth the effort to change over to a lly or lbz. Run sac style injectors with a tune and should be good to go for at least 100k miles. Unless your putting a ton of miles on a motor home. Did you say how many miles...

LMM: Ever Seen a New Engine Do This?

Wasn't borax heated with atf and water then poured down the carb. Called the 20 minute overhaul. Borax took off the glaze. Trans unstuck rings and water knocked off the carbon. Knew guys that swore by it.

New forum member and new LLY Owner have some questions

I forgot. You can drain the water trap into a cut off water bottle and let it sit for a minute. It will tell if the fuel has water or other crap in it. I've seen one bad fuel up cause 5k in damage.

In my opinion first thing first. It's new to you. Either drain the fuel filter out the bottom or replace and see what comes out. Should be clean fuel. If it's brownish we've got problems. Start with the basics.

    L5P Paint quality.

Good point. I've never really thought about that since I don't paint when it's summer time. I don't like the high humidity on the couple show cars I've done. Thanks for adding that

    L5P Paint quality.

I've never used water base paints but in urethane it can take 6 months or much sooner for a bubble to appear if There's something under neithe it doesn't like. If it's trapped in the primer it'll continue to cause problems until it's removed.

Did they bust the bubble down to metal? If there's a tiny amount of oil or other contaminants it'll keep coming back until it's done right.

Coolant loss -- headgaskets or EGR cooler?

I would look hard at the water pump. It's hard to get a mirror down there but look at the weep hole and see if it's leaking. If it's never had one your past due lol

Coolant loss -- headgaskets or EGR cooler?

And sorry I don't agree. Head gaskets may be gone but all you here about on these forums is the bad. I've got two buddy's with 300 plus on llys no issues. And a buddy with 189 on a factory lb7 bought new with no injector issues. Never been touched to this date.

Coolant loss -- headgaskets or EGR cooler?

Well you stated that you've only put coolant in twice correct? Two years? **** it I wouldn't worry about it until it shows its ugly head. That's just me. Truck could be totaled tomorrow by a bad driver. Just how I live.

Coolant loss -- headgaskets or EGR cooler?

Yes it's not a for sure sigh checking the oil cap. But it's just another piece to the puzzle. And if it was covered in milky white crap. Well then..... plus here in dallas I've never seen condensation on a hot motor. Water pumps can hold pressure all day and never drop until you start the...
