so ive been honestly contemplating the idea of selling my truck and buying a new Cummins (OMG!! did he just say that?!?!) or a new LML OR just pulling the built motor, twins, dual fueler out and going back to stock stuff.

there is nothing wrong with my setup, im just tired of wrenching on my rig for maintenance junk and ive finally "finished" where i wanted my truck as well as enjoyed it.

If i sold all the go fast goodies in it and went back stock, it doesnt really get rid of the "maintenance" stuff i jsut stated i dont want to do but id have some cash to have someone else fix what i need done and to put into my toys.

Personally, ive been looking really hard at new trucks though.

Question is, whos gone from towing, running around in a built truck to something stock? did you get over the power difference? how about towing and did it really slow you pulling hills? if i buy it new or damn near new, its staying stock to keep my warranty in tack or atleast ill put on what i can that wont void my warranty.

I love the Limo and cant believe im thinking about doing this to her but im done racing it, i dont want the temptation, and i would rather put my time and energy into toys.

Didn't have a built truck just my lbz with big tune lift pump trans go jr intake and a few other things below in my sig. I miss the power everyday, but it was hard in parts when pullin heavy axle issues and failure and another odd things broke it failed. I drive my lb7 now for the most part it bit and slow but pulls reliably 30k pounds all over the Midwest and doesn't break.

Our lml on the other hand is the best of both worlds, tons if power decent mileage and reliable (so far atleast). The level of luxery in the lml is unreal being and slt3 u can go for hours.

I would buy my lbz back in a heart beat if i knew where it was anymore, inhad a lot of work in it and time and money, less than u might I add. If it were me hang on too it dial her back some make a nice dd cruiser out of it and make it as luxurious inside as possible (which is whatbim doing now with my lb7. Think long and hard about it no rash quick decisions because ram or gm is runnin a "one time only sale" there will always be good deal out there but will there be another truck truck like yours???

Its a tough call I didn't like my stock LMM compared to my LB7 but I got tired of fixing the LB7 and the cost associated with it.

I decided to take a break for a while and now seeing the prices of new and used trucks it doesn't make me want to come back

its not really the power im all that concered about and what comes with it, its the normal wear and tear. i know at some point it will be due for wheel bearings again, im sure u-joints are not far behind, i just replaced one lower ball joint yesterday and will have to do the other here soon, the thought of it needing injectors eventually down the line and so on.

right now she needs an intercooler, fuel pressure reg, a trans line fitting replaced, rebuild the t-case, lower rad hose, and id like to redo some interior stuff thats worn or broke. for it being an 02, i cant say ive seen one with the miles and age as mine with the original interior in as good of shape as it is but its not "new" either.

this isnt something id do on a whim. im going to fix the intercooler, FPR, fitting, and lower rad hose with my bonus check i get this december and then decide how i want to handle the t-case. Next summer would be when i "think" ill know what i want to do. i cant keep this truck and get something else. just not in the cards nor do i have the space nor is it really practical to me. the truck is built to do everything i do and do it well, it just comes down to up keep and the little things add up. Seems like when i finally get most things fixed, something else is due or ready to go. i drive this thing and it really doesnt worry me to drive it long distance. its never let me down but im always going over the truck thoroughly to make sure shes road worthy.

do you tow much with it?

yeah i agree with you there. price of a new truck is pretty damn high. i can get a cummins for 10k less than a chevy though and i really like the looks and how they drive. the one i test drove didnt feel as quick as my dads 100% stock LMM though so that kinda dissapointed me

As much as it pains me to say this, of the current offerings Ford doesn't make a bad truck. *criiiiiiiiiinge*

Edit: Ok I cant believe I just said that....going to kill myself now.

going from a built tow rig to a stockish one is hard and I don't think I personally could do it. after towing my race truck with a stock turbo lbz (having to downshift and keep the rpms screaming to keep up boost and egts somewhat down as well as slowing down) vs my twinned built black lbz (just set the cruise and rip up any hill and cant get egts above 1100 if I try) I couldn't go back.

Nope, i wont get into a Ford. you couldnt pay me enough to do it. its the whole "brand loyalty" thing is why i couldnt touch one.

If i could test drive a new lml or manual cummins with my trailer on the back up one of our 6% grades, id know in a heart beat what id rather keep doing.

Lost the balls and grew a vagina huh? In all honesty if I owned a lifted truck I would get rid of it as well :D unless you get a new LML fully loaded I wouldnt go to one but that's just me

The new rams are nice, two of my friends just got them, only bad thing i can say about them there engines are loud and there sound systems suck for the back seat. The biggest plus is the two beer coolers in the floor of the back seat. The fords I have don't have a problem with, just the engine compartment suck to work on. The only thing I dislike about the LML is the interior, so I would wait for the 2015s.
I would buy any of the three and you can't go wrong with any of them if you leave them stock.

I toss around the idea of a new truck everyday... I would love to buy a new truck and keep my LMM to play but of course that's not the smart financial thing to do (nothing on this forum is! lol).

I'm torn as to whether I will build the motor when it goes or put the whole truck back to stock. I've seen guys go from built to stock, and looking at the expense of it all I understand why.

I enjoyed my stock turbo race tune out on the street more than my twins, it would light so fast and break the tires loose easy down low. Loved it! a stock turbo, built trans duramax is absolutely a blast to drive on the street!! reliable and quick.

It's a tough call, right now i'm sticking with the LMM and planning to build it at Josh's shop. I have my first kid (boy) due in February 2014 so my plans may not fit momma's next year so who knows what direction I will take.

James, I would hate to see you do away with the built motor in the limo or do away with the limo all together. It has character, but I understand the itch for something new. Good luck with the decision! Either way it's the right one! :thumb:

A stock LML tows like a beast. I only tow 12-14k but I can't imagine wanting any more power for what I pull. Plus the new chassis is way more stable. I never really towed with my LMM when it was built to compare though.

I'm in the same boat kinda. I'm tired of broken parts, since I destroyed another trany I yanked the motor out of White Lightning and will be dropping a stock lmm back in and will keep it around 700hp range. I will use my built motor for some serious engine dyno testing then find a much faster chassis to put it in and aim for that #1 spot on fastest dmax list. That's my goal, it's good to dream right?:spit:
