For what power I said a 71 is only good for so much power. Ya toss a 71mm on a dirty slut 2wheel drive thats on a diet with traction and you can be fast. If you want big power a 71 is for the betchs. Its a dumb question from the get go IMHO. Who goes fast with a stock turbo a 66 a 71 a 75 a 80 a 88 blah blah blah turbo size means shit its all set up fuel only spray etc. I know guys who have gone 12s on twins with 100mm+ secondary. Its just a stupid forum question

I have. (relatively) Jeff has. Trent has. Matt has (hell, he'd kick most people's ass with his old setup). You arent in "Cummins land" any more, so how about answering the guy's question instead of being a smart ass?

Ben, I have no idea if a 71 would do what you want to do, but for the prices of those chargers, wouldnt you be better off going with an S472 or S475 and put the money you save on the charger into the rest of the engine?

i would say low 12s on a 68mm charger is good imop, in a truck that weighs 6800lbs why does it have to be on a diet and with spry it can be done other ways, and if they have 100+mm secondary's and running 12s something is wrong, and if its a stupid forum question why are you posting in this thread with your pointless information you have not done it so post you 100+mm 12 second bull shit on another forum

I've talked to Dustin about 72 and 75 S4s in the past and he thought it could be done just fine. That is an option forsure, but I like explore my options as much as possible, I maybe beating a dead horse with all my talk abut buyin stuff forever now... It will come one day when I grow some balls and break down the cash. But just thinking and thinking until I have the extra spending money. This diesel game is soo dang expensive, ohh if I woulda bought a mustang instead...

why does it say 821 is that on fuel? and wow a dyno run means shit guess you didn't know that wow who cant make 800hp on a 66????? for 1 second dyno peak and then try to do that on a 1/4 mile is alot different wow people never will realize this. something called making a full pass at those egts and making a dyno run is alot different buddy wow how many times have we seen 800hp on a 66 plenty but how hot
The 821 was with meth, I posted fuel only numbers
Ahh I'm not worried about egts, its only a 1/4 mile :D

A 71mm is a decent sized turbo for a truck with stock internals and injectors. And a good daily driver set-up as well. It's a good starting point to build the rest of the engine around. If you don't have studs you can tune it to keep your boost down.

Sure a GT 42 or 45 or an S475 as a single may or may not generate more power, but without the set-up to go with it, what is the point? Bigger isn't always better.

where did the 10s come from? if you cant do it with a 100+ into the 12s why do you think a 71 will go 10s, are you happy when you talk and pull random numbers out of your ass

Once you hit 11's and then hitting mid 11's we will all need something other than a stock motor to keep it alive. Exspecially if your racing it or beating on it alot. Either way you go depending on how fast you want it to be reliability has to come into play if it's your true daily driver. Keep that in mind.

dude either put some good tech info into this thread from experience on a turbo you have actually ran that the OP may be interested in or move on , its obvious you have no clue what a good well built 71mm charger can do , and I guarantee you a well built 66 inducer or 71 can put a truck into the 10's with the right supporting mods and chassis . you have to remember not all 66 or 71 are created equal;)

Turbo's

Come on down to the 50K race and I will show you how a 66 can run in the 10's! I will do one better, If I could win the race(BIG IF) I will drive my truck back from Fl to Ohio and not change a thing other than tires!

wow wish my truck weighed that much. with the tailgate and no spare mine weighs 7400 when i made my 12.6 run i had no tailgate and 3/4 tank.
my pass was fuel only and a 68mm weighing in at full weight 6880 with street tires could have ditched some weight and got some injectors and went way into the 11's but never got around to it

Someone brought up running a GT turbo so figured I would post this....

"GT4088 is a non variable turbocharger.

AVNT3788 is a variable turbocharger.

Stop using the GT4088 compressor map to assess my turbo. The AVNT3788 has a flow rating of 66lb/min maximum. Need to see the compressor map? This is with the stock 13 blade, 72mm inducer turbine.

So I changed the turbine out to a 10 blade design, larger inducer, much larger exducer. Larger inducer means you are able to create more turbine hp and/or turbine rpm. Slap a more aggressive wheel on there and you've got more flow. Is it that hard to believe that it gained 11lb/min when the rwhp went up 85?

Have you measured a GT4294 wheel yet? The 4094 comes really close to it in flow which we offer as the 68mm Cheetah.

Did you also know that there is a 2.8" inducer Cheetah... That will flow as much or more than a 4294 without the lag?

Good luck with that 42 or 45 on your LLY... It's too big for the street.. "
