X2, they do have the right to ask what they want, everyone does. I heard a haisleys 2.6 turn key motor with a 1200hp dyno sheet is 60k I believe.

for that kind of coin one could buy a complete prostreet dmax motor that will run -5.8xs...truck and tranny thrown in for free...

Yep.... But will it make 1200 with a 2.6 turbo on it? That's what you have to have, so thats what people pay.

I think the motor cost is high but look at it this way. When you are looking for some one to hire or do work for you you want experience. Most are even willing to pay more for it. If it's a specialized type of experience the price goes up even more! There are no other built motors with the kind of experience that this particular one has.

Sorry I was out of town for the weekend.....

Your absolutely correct EXCEPT as far as the "higher standard" I don't feel it would be in his interest to come into this thread and insult a member being a vendor. Nothing positive will come of it, believe me. I have chosen to take the higher road ,for now.

How about an old MOD/member that follows me around and tries to stir things up?

This is not new for you Mackin as this has always been your calling card for years.....Maybe even 10..;)

Besides that I feel we have the right if we choose to discuss the price of a building such a beast of a motor and IF such a motor is worth the asking price and what are the alternatives if someone was in the market for one.

My opinion stands that $35K or BO for a used motor is IMO ,nuckin futs! Also not that it is Just USED but how it was USED also.

03BadMaxxx for my curiosity what power level is your truck at for the asking price 0f $39K? Whole truck by the way.

Also not for nothing where is the documents showing that this "famous" $35k motor is at 1000 RWHP anyway or was it a toes and fingers calculation?

We don't need to remove our shoe's over here...You on the other hand?? I think I got your Christmas present picked out for you.. This should save you a whole step when those difficult math equations come at you....
3450615-main.jpg

We have a 1500RWHP dyno in house. This engine has made just at 1098 RWHP on fuel. We have sheets to prove it.

I think they used "ricer math"... :poke: :roflmao:

Nope...Just a dyno :thumb:

Dan my question is why are you selling it? Also how much time does it have on it at WOT? I think trying to sell a slighty used race engine is akin to trying to sell a race truck. Lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar of what you spent, and damn lucky to sell it at all. Been there tried that.

Not sure as I don't make those decisions I was asked to "Put it up for sale"

You pretty much just described my motor build lol.

We have a close family friend who builds turbo charged Toyota motors and engineers performance parts geared towards that industry. He works out back of
His house in a little shop. Has all the high tech fancy stuff in there and all that. It is rediculous what he spends on R&D. And that is why he has to charge so much for the things he builds. Some of these companies have invested millions into designing and testing these high performance parts we all crave. But at the end of the day they need to make their money back, and then some. So a set of badass cylinder heads is gonna cost you your left testicle. And a couple badass cp3's is gonna suck to pay for but that shit wasn't designed and made for free so you gotta pay to play.

If PPE wants $40,000 for their motor then that's that. Too much? Then go build your own. I'm having a hard enough time trying to cash flow this BBC build I'm doing. Could not imagine trying to build the dmax motor at this point in my life. I'd rather have a hefty down payment for a house.

:thumb:

Fix'd for you Bri Bri....

This is quite a thread. I agree with the general consensus that the depreciation may be a little off, but honestly it's worth whatever someone is wiling to pay for it.

Granted, I imagine Dan realizes we are all thinking the price is high. He will either find a seller, not sell the engine, or reduce the price.

Beating the dead horse doesn't seem effective.

:)

I wish I had 38k laying around to spend on my motor. I probably have spent that in the last 4 years on turbos, injectors, cp3s, intercoolers, building a new motor this year, broken drivetrain parts. If you add it all up I might be close to that amount. I guess I'm not very far up the ladder cause I dont waste a lot of money.

Really? How are those sponsors treating you?

If getting over 1000hp costs you more than 20k you need to stop. Spend your money on what counts. Everyone sees the word billet and thinks its needed. Half of this billet Shit cracks me up. Maybe do some research, call around, find out what you can do yourself. It does nickel and dime you with the little stuff, but not to a crazy extent.

making 1000rwhp is EASY!!!! making it live is another story, This is a PROVEN package!

X2, they do have the right to ask what they want, everyone does. I heard a haisleys 2.6 turn key motor with a 1200hp dyno sheet is 60k I believe.

1200 RWHP or FWHP?

for that kind of coin one could buy a complete prostreet dmax motor that will run -5.8xs...truck and tranny thrown in for free...

;):thumb:

A dyno sheet beats a You Tube Guinness Book Of World Records video! :roflmao:

You know what..... You take the same truck, trailer, conditions and track and see if you can beat it with less than 1000rwhp... My guess? you would be about 10-15mph under the record....:D

Yes. Not to mention its an actual competition with other competitors.

Really? The question is could you compete?:D The Guinness world records are OPEN TO ANYONE (including you).... So I guess you could say the whole WORLD is our competition.....

Damage? You'll increase the value! :D

Haha you guys are ruthless:D. For what it's worth here has been my experience with Dan and PPE:

1. During my first trans build (PPE Stage V) Dan was right by the phone to answer any questions, also referred me to Mike L for a question that I had.

2. Has offered to take my friend Jim (SlimJimm17)'s converter back to adjust stall speed for no charge

3. SlimJimm17 bought a Dual Fueler kit from a 3rd party on here, it was for an LLY. It was still new in the box, and when we talked to Dan on the phone he exchanged and shipped all necessary components to make it fit an LB7 at NO CHARGE.

4. All of the PPE trans kits I've installed have been great, clearances were great, customer support was awesome, and are now holding up in 600+ trucks and they were built by a couple of dummies with a little ambition and some time on their hands.

Off topic, but never have gotten a chance to thank Dan and wanted to stand up for him a little since he is getting bashed lol.

And good luck with the sale of the motor:thumb:

I wonder what kind of damage I would do to my manifolds if I grinded the ppe off of them?

On the older styles? You would have Proflows... New style? you would loose the ability to have them 50 state legal....:D

This all you got???? You know what they say as you get older you loose your edge... Sucks getting old huh?;)

Thanks for the kind words!!!:hug::thumb:

None of that matters because this engine is for sale for what we feel it's worth and apparently we can only ask .50 cents on the Dollar...

I'm sure that takes away 25 horse

You might be right..... :joker:

444,

I'm glad you have had great experience with them BUT this thread isn't about you know who even tho you know who thinks it's about you know who! If I was looking for a character reference all I'd have to do is look back at for sale thread where some unopened box of rods were being sold. Thanks nonetheless! :)

This thread is about does it really cost in excess of $40 grand to build a 1000 HP World Record Motor ? By that I don't mean a engine that is only going to make it once but say a engine that can break a record then be used with some what reliability. Can it be done cheaper? I believe so . If so looks like I can beat a record then sell it and make a decent profit! :D

Waaaaaa....:baby:

I know things are hard to deal with when everything is listed as to what fee's it will cost to return something (even if its new in the box). But I guess some people (not the customer), cant figure it out... Our policies have not changed since he bought the parts (nor did they change right before he bought them)....But I guess a little internet pressure will make us cave in huh... ;)

LOL!!!! Go for it! I bet you don't have the BALLS to even try... But hey! What do I know....:coolspot:

Ya it sure does...;) I have asked about it a few times but was told it was not possible....

It's no biggie just take them off and sell them..:nutswinger:

I'm sure they will be worth their weight in GOLD....:D
