There really isnt a way to tell for positive . But we all know we are riding the cracked piston line with HP on stock pistons .

I cut the lip on my pistons in new motor , maybe that will help or maybe make it crack easier , another no way to know for sure .

Time will tell though . So far so good .

I have a couple really high injectors right now and it really bothers me getting on it . would hate to cough another motor from damn injectors .

Saw a motor apart at dealer , guy was towing on very small tune and a hole in piston no crack . Stuck injector , he was also running bio fuel .... hmmmm

LOL it better be to get it off, The hand of god torqed it
You are not kidding! I had borrow a 3/4 impact. One of those big three handle jobbers. One handle for each hand and one on the back to push with your gut. That big monster got it. Are 1/2 Snap on would not touch them.

Balancer bolt was easy.....i thought.:D Now the fan pully on the other hand...... fk'd with that thing for a couple hours before finally biting the bullet and spendin the money on a pulley tool. What a POS to get off.

That fan deal is evil! I had to take my fan off twice. After the second time I said F@#& this and went an bought electric fans!

Tommy you will also want a 14mm hex to remove the flex plate and a long breaker bar and a jack handle to boot or a strong strong impacts.

Thank you. Now i wont have to make to trips to the store :D It ws interesting my drivers side had 2 loose head bolts  they where like a little tighter then hand tight:eek: and the rest where really tight  also had the slighest little bit of coolant corosion going on the lip looks like it was about to tart leaking through into the cyl as well

Try calling me or leaving a message . I have no calls from you on my phone , just looked .

Boy you get testy when its your motor broke . You were making jokes right and left when it was mine .

I didnt forget about Ban Johnny thread :D

The seal tool is here , you dont need it to disassemble , just pull and the seal will seperate in 2 . On both front and rear . If you want to pull it with tool you can though , then you dont have the inner steal on crank still .

You need it to reassemble mainly . It's here when you want it though .

The balancer bolt was the real pain for me to get off . What a bitch that was .

Glad to see you guys making some serious progress , now post some pics of the cylinder and piston so we can see it .

Johnny

LOL testy for some reason im happyer then i was before my motor broke:confused: mabey your phone had one to many spills in the pool :D

That was easy wes you just pull the 4 bolts holding it on timing cover instead and whole unit comes off .

Didnt go that far. Just trying to get it out the way so i could replace the water pump. No friggin place to get ahold of it tight enough that you can spin the nut off though.....

nice :D .... i thought about doin that. tired of hearin the clutch fan run allllllllll summer long....

As far as price I think around $600.00. Unreliable, maybe through the desert in 120 degree days

what woud make them unreliable in 120 heat ?

Seems that there is information floating around saying they flow enough air while pulling a trailer and then some who say it does not flow enough air while pulling a trailer. I do not know as I do not have them, just what I heard.

I have less the half that in my setup. Turbotug did a real nice Taurus fan install. Being an OEM part I would wager they are reliable.

Oem to what, a ford taurus? BTW I am not knocking on the idea as that is exactly what I planned on doing with my pull truck, actually I was going to use mark V fans, which are larger than taurus fans and OEM to ford.

I know for a fact mine wasn't caused by an injector. All 8 tested good.

I don't really think that it's an injector thing either, you don't see that many stock trucks running around cracking pistons as you do modded ones

My money is on lack of effective cooling from the oil cooling gallery in the bottom of the piston. I know on mine the hole was on the opposite side from where the oil comes into the bottom of the piston. I wish I had looked to see how the squirters were lined up with the pistons before I pulled them out. When I put them back in I had to re-aim most of them.

I do find it weird that both mine and Tommy's pistons had a hole with no crack, but Johnny's was cracked all the way across.

Did you shut your truck off right away? I remember with Johnny we thought it was the injector still so we swapped it out in glamis and turned it on and he revved it a little too:baby: I think the hole comes first because you can see a little crack starting from the hole on Tommy's

I drove it probably 2 miles or so after the break (to get off the freeway). I have a small crack starting on mine too.
