Side note, couple of newer guys at the gym lately. Monday this guy was squatting putting some decent weight up 325x3 semi high but decent for a gym warrior, knees caving a bit and little wobbly... I think he must be done there, Nope he slaps on 385 and gets half way up and stalls, then just ejects the bar off his back, CRASH onto the safety bars, thing jumped like 3 feet in the air WTF? Scared the heck out of me as I wasn't watching when it happened... I tell him "dude if you need a spot just ask" his reply "I don't like spotters when I squat" I think:cool2: lol some people.

the other dude was tonight. Decent build, tallish 6'1 maybe 185-190 ish lean. Squats up to 405x3 pretty high and knees caving like a mofo, no belt and in running shoes, 3rd rep was a grinder. Bench he goes up to 315x3 no spotter, diggin like a boss, bouncing off the chest but he got them. Deads 495x1 back rounded torqued up pretty good. I got to say for such terrible gear and little to no technique, both were pretty strong guys.

Anywho just some random bs at the gym that I thought was funny and cool... Not sure either one will have much of a body left by the time they get to my age:D but there givin er hell now.

I was thinking the same thing, but that probably isn't true for me!
I wish I could say I just got up and did it but it took alot of nagging from a friend and my wife getting into shape to get my butt off the couch... Now that it's a habit, I start going nuts if I miss a training day. It also helps when your spouse is into it as much or more than you are:thumb:

A good workout buddy is hard to come by
Amen Wolf! The guy that helped get me back in the gym moved a couple years ago. He's in Cali now working at Equinox as a PT.
Gonna get back on dat creatine I think
I never get off... Makes me wonder if I should?

Sometimes a workout partner is bad, especially if they aren't into it. Oh he isn't going I won't go either kind of thing. I'll tell u this, my brother hits up another club fitness every once in a while and I workout so much faster it's crazy, get a better burn.-on a lighter day, on heavy day spotter is key.

Have not taken it in years, but have slowly switched to a little to no red meat diet over the past couple years so figure a creatine supp couldn't hurt. Five more months till a hopefully filled freezer of deer meet :D

I've never had mule deer meat, does it taste a lot like whitetail deer meat or does it taste a bit different?

Depends on what the Mulleys have been feeding on... Sage Brush Mulleys can have some pretty gamey meat. Mulleys & White tails feeding off of the ranchers Alfalfa are pretty tasty and I can't really tell the difference.

But I would take Elk Back Strap over any cut of meat on the planet, so good:thumb: It's a big reason I want to get back Home to Idaho so bad. I miss chasing the Elk around with a bow during the rut.

Mules and whitetails in the same space generally eat the same stuff, but mules are more inclined to eat sage brush, acorns, and scrub oak than a whitetail is. It's the sage and acorns that are so bad for taste in my opinion.

Now you want to talk about weird deer? Let's cover axis and fallow...

The whitetails around here LOVE acorns. In fact, this past season there was a huge mass of acorns dropping & it was like every oak tree was a mineral lick/attractant. Find acorn rich oaks and you'd have deer on you!

Never noticed any different taste to the deer meat if they had been eating one thing or another more than something else. Age & gender seems to be the biggest factor in whitetail meat from my experience.

If an elk backstrap is better than a whitetail backstrap, I have got to have some bc I think the whitetail backstrap is the best meat on the plant that I've ever had. I have heard elk & moose meat are phenomenal. Just never had any.

The Mule deer back in Idaho generally run in the high country where as the White tails stay in the valleys and close to the rivers... However the transplanted Canadian Grey wolves have hammered the Mule deer and Elk populations in Idaho. It's sad because the Grey wolf was never really in the area, it was the smaller Timber wolves. The Grey's can take down much bigger animals. Now you see mule deer and white tails intermingling in the valleys closer to humans because the wolf has pushed them there. Grr, this subject really pisses me off:D

That Fallow looks like a Axis and a Caribou got it on. They are an odd little guy.

Yours all grass feed Mitch:D Sage brush is some powerful smelling stuff, I can tell when they been eating it.

Well if I get back home and your ever in my neck of the woods I'll see if I can convert ya to Elk:hug: As far as Moose meat I have had exceptional Moose and stuff you wouldn't feed to a dog. Most is in the middle (not a big moose fan)... I like Caribou more than moose:thumb:

A fun little fact that maybe some don't know about wild game meat is that it is ultra lean, little to no fat content. You have to add pig and beef fat to the burger or it will never stay together:thumb:
