Corbin, man up and post a video of your squat please. Side angle with the camera level with your waist and one from the front at about the same angle. Might just be a simple technique flaw aggravating your back...

I don't work out with people so it's hard to get a vid. This is an old one from before I hurt my back.

What's weird to me is some days I get out of bed and can barely walk around. Some days I'm fine. Guess I should go to the Chiro again

I don't see anything in that vid jumping out at me... Lower back pain yes, sciatic issue maybe?

Are you still doing the exercises regular?

Yea lower back pain. Maybe nerve issue, I know a few guys who have had it and the describe the same thing I have. However the Chiro I went to didn't see anything in the x Rays. Been to busy to get another opinion.

I do the exercises daily yep. I've been doing more gradually too. I've been problem free for a couple weeks at a time. Then it flares and like right now I'm sitting in the rocking chair with little man feeding him a bottle and I have a pain in my lower back.

Also that video was my one rep max almost a year ago so it's not the cleanest rep lol.

I can't go that deep anymore without pain. I can go a little below parallel but not like o used to.

X-rays won't show nerve issues...that mri territory. I'm fluent with back issues corbin. 4 herniated discs. I've had a bunch of cortisone shots and outside of surgery that's all that helps my back pain. Most days my pain is a 3 or 4. Bad days it's 6 or 7 and on those days I carry alieve and ibuprofen everywhere and eat it like candies lol

I agree with Brock. It might be MRI time? Sciatic pain is very common and can hard to fix but can be cured over time with the proper rest a caution with your back... One thing that pisses my back off to no end is being under the hood off a car or truck...

I can agree to that to. I used to enjoy working in the truck, now it's kind of a chore and I somewhat loath it. But really I've done core exercises for years to be able to walk around. When I first injured my back I think for 6-8 months I walked with an extreme limp. I couldn't take a full step with my left leg. I'm not out of the woods either, as some days it's all I can do to get out of bed.

My advice would be go see spine specialist. They will probably recommend an mri and then they can really pinpoint your issue. It may be a simple and only need a shot or some therapy. But I'd take it serious, especially if you have kids as nothing would suck more than not being able to pick them up or get down and play with them

I have to suggest that your BF% isn't that low. I weighed in at 186 this morning, 5'10" on a tall day, 15.25" arms on a full pump, wear 32" jeans & never measured my quads & I don't believe I am 11% or lower at the moment. I would guess 13-14%. Not trying to nitpick or argue, you're doing solid, but I've been single digit BF% in the past year and once you're under 10% you look seriously shredded.

Sounds reasonable. But man on a full pump you can add 1/2 to all those measurements I posted. I measure cold unflexed. I believe you to be less than 13%, unless you meant that was your guess for me? Which sounds reasonable as well. I've been down in the single digits, I weighed 158 lbs at my leanest.

It will be interesting to come back to this post in a year and see progress!

Thanks man.

Preface, don't take this as me being mean spirited. Just some critical advice.

IMO, drop the bar lower on your shoulders, and tighten up your wirsts. That bar should be sitting tight on your back, I prefer not hooking my thumbs around, almost a suicide grip but for squats.

Other issue I kinda see, your hips shoot up to fast and you unload the weight onto your lower back which then forces you to good morning the weight.

That, and make sure you force your knees out, they started to cave when you worked the first rep up. If that is a near 1RM weight, disregard what I said but if its within the normal weight of workout stuff I would start hammering form.

What kind of stretching do you do for hamstrings and IT band area?

I appreciate any advice I can get. That was my one rep max almost a year ago.

Since then I've done like you said and lowered the bar on my back and use false grip now. That made a huge improvement.

I'll try to get someone to take a video today as my back feels a little better and I'm hoping by lunch it'll be loose enough to do some squats.

I don't really do excessive stretching now a days since I'm on my feet for 5 hours before I go to the gym. However I do some body weight squats and normal ham stretches before I put any weight on the bar.

I'm not sure how much more I'll progress..with 2 small kids and a business to run, I'm happy maintaining this...I've been as heavy as 218 but its too much weight for my frame, narrow hips & small wrists.

Do you mind sharing what gear/training/diet history with us? I do believe you are the biggest leanest person posting in here? Just wanting to learn.

I've been a bobybuilder for a very long time so I've made all the mistakes. I've been on 200mg of test and 200mg of Deca for HRT from my Doctor for 9 years. I don't train heavy anymore and I eat anywhere from 320-450g of protein per day. I eat no less than 5 meals a day. I only drink protein drinks after weights. Everything else is from food. I eat 3lbs of chicken per day. I cycle my diet too. Every so often I do not eat much more than chicken and broccoli for weeks at a time to keep lean. I also do 50 minutes of cardio on days I train, 90 minutes a day on days I don't train... lots of cardio. It makes a huge difference in how you look and how efficient your body is.
I normally train with weights 4-5 times a week. I do 3-4 exercises per muscle group and only 1 set to failure usually. I do maybe two progressively heavier warm ups. I ever do the same weight for more than one set. I also don't care about weight at all... it's all the feeling of it and how much I can feel the target muscle working. It takes alot of focus and it's pretty exhausting.
It's really easy when you take the mysticism out of it. Super low doses of drugs for a very long time. My BP and heart rate are very good as are my liver enzymes... lots of guys use way to much. Your body takes time to build muscle... 200mg a week or 1000mg a week your only going to gain so much... I keep hearing that people need higher doses, but I dont.
Long low dose basic drugs to get you into optimal range
3lbs of chicken or beef per day
Lower carbs (200-250g)
At least 30 minutes of cardio EVERY DAY
intense focus on a few sets in and out. The lower the weight the less chance of injury. If you have specific questions feel free to ask.
I do like the peptides for a little kick when everything else is perfect. You need no less than 8 hours of sleep per night... you really can't function optimally without it, so you need to be honest with how bad you want this.

I've trained several people over the years. I trained my ex wife for a year and then she did her first show and got 3rd in her class. She turned Pro by the end of the year in Figure in the IFBB. I used to compete at the national level as a heavyweight. Even in full on contest shape and depleted I was 228. That was before the accident though. I can't do anything free weight anymore since things don't contract equally.
You guys would be amazed at what you can accomplish training correctly 3-4 times a week and diet and sleep is in order. Alot of people spend way too much time lifting weights. I'm actually taking a week or so off and dieting right now. Its all about how you look at the beach. No one cares how weak I am...

Oh contrary.

It boosts my ever so fragile ego when I can squat more with better form than the ever so finely toned BB guy.

You'd feel like a superstar next to me. I can't stand up from a seated position without bracing on something....but you wouldn't know it looking at my legs

I am just now doing my legs again. I know the whole back game very well,I spent a little time in icu after falling off of a cooling tower. I feel my back when the weather changes, especially after long days at work. We do a lot of rigging on mechanical equipment and sometimes it takes a day or 2 just to set up gantry. Those days feel like a workout, even more so when it's hot/humid. I just try to stay mobile anymore. I try not to sleep more than 6 hours,if so my back will let me know. I try not to sit around alot either. I had a good doctor at the texas back institute that helped me alot 8 years ago. They actually recommend some forms of weight lifting, and always recommend staying mobile. It's been a few years for me on any type of injection, I pray it stays that way . Time to go lift.

More power to you man, I'm just poking fun at the BB types.

For me, I have always lacked the extreme dedication to clean up diet enough to shed some BF but pretty easily maintain the bulky look. So PL works, eat a lot and lift heavy till gravity smacks you down.
