My pump just started leaking badly. It is making the chirping noise to.
I am going electric. More for clearance with the new turbo setup than any other reason.

Have you picked out an electric one yet Johnboy? Just wondering what would be a good one to use.

Cool thanks. They look HD!! 10 amps draw on the one. 55gpm sounds like lots of flow. Should work good.
Are you planning to just plate off the front where the waterpump would go?
I always thought that if did this I would make a plate to plug the hole integrated with a mount for the electric pump.

Yes I made a block off plate. Pump will be mounted lower. The idea is to get it out of the way.

That was my exact thought, if the theromostats are causing the restriction, why not just drill holes in them to releave some of the pressure. :thumb:

for those who are running electric water pumps, is it worth deleting the stock oil cooler too for daily driving? or are you just plumbing a new water line into the stock cooler and still keeping the water/oil cooling? i plan on daily driving mine and i'm just afraid an air/oil cooler wouldn't be enough. the air/oil cooler is one of KillerBee's coolers i got used for a good price that i was going to add too the factory system

sweet Simon, any pics? did you machine the block off kit yourself or did you buy from powermax?

Ill post some pics later:)

I used the stock water pump and pulled the gear and impellar off then welded shut the hole where the shaft was and put the pump plate and cover back on the truck.

I also wellded shut the 1" hard pipe that comes down from the T-stat housing. Then tapped the t-stat housing and ran a hose down to the upstream side of the pump.

The stewart pump that JB posted earlier is wicked and mounts perfectly on the crossmember below the balancer:D Splice the hose and good to go.

Like i said ill post pics later and honestly dont know how it will work but i should by the end of the week. I also didnt know there was a block off plate from powermax but it was pretty easy to just gut the stock pump.
that way i knew it would fit:D

here is a pic of the butchered hose and pump bolted to the crossmember

Because i have my coolant tank on the driverside i built a 2x2x1" crossover that is the blue hose and the other outlet will be for the hose coming down from the t-stat housing. they are both pre-pump now

here you can see where the NEW drain hose comes from the t-stat housing its the braided 3/4" hose connected to the housing it will run down to the rad hose ( pre-pump) where in the pic you can see a blue plug

My UPS guy should be dropping mine off this week.

Pics of my dead water pump.

I am glad I keyed my crank. The impeller was digging into the housing so hard you could not turn the pump over by hand!
