What torque levels were you putting to that GV in OD? 1:1 input off a powerglide I'm guessing? I know they are rated to hold 2000hp, but I've always wondered about the torque and that cone clutch setup.

Watched a video last night of Tom Neslons build on a salt flats or Texas Mile COPO with PG into a 3spd Lenco, into a GV unit, and wonder how it liked 2000ft lbs for more than a few seconds.

We never hit the dyno with it (Chevelle), but ET vs weight (4560lbs) showed around 1000-1100hp. The difference between us and the gassers is the short window we made zero to max torque in. The gasser torque curve is like climbing a long hill, compared to a diesel's steep mountain. The 2.90 gear, 4500lbs and 1:1 are not friends with a GV. 2000hp in a gasser is what..., 1200-1400tq?

Part of the problem Simon ran into with the Lenco/Bruno set-up. Hard on converters and other internals with the steep torque curve in a heavier truck. Brad Makinen has had better luck with his lighter Dirtymax and Willy's.

Name That Rod

Received 16 of these today. Dropped them off at machine shop for a little downsizing to fit new cranks.

I'd like to watch the laser burn that hole through there. Sure glad these are expensive, because there is only a handful left after my purchase.

Received more pictures today..

Thanks Fingers

We also have the custom billet zero balance marine flywheels mocked up in Solidworks. Still reviewing some spring damper bolt pattern options. Estimated to weigh in around 65lbs as designed. Was planning to go a bit heavier, but realized the cranks will be packing some extra rotating pounds too.

That has to be one of the only Baja's out there with SSM #6's...

If the guy wants fast... He should be using a different hull...

Yes. Very slow hull. What transmissions are you using kid? What the target goal for WOT engine life?

My boat is a bravo boat so no transmission there, cone clutch in the drive. As long as my engine stays cool with good oil pressure, it should run at WOT for a very long time probably as long as you can handle holding it... I've held it open for a solid 20 minutes at times. :thumb: Its also not making the kind of power this boat or my fathers as I was previously talking about. Its a mere 530HP compared to 1,200HP plus.. But none the less the marine environment is brutal on an engine! The only thing they have keeping them alive is fresh cold water!
