What to do when you find a leak inside the coolant reservoir tank mounting tubes??

Both tubes were welded on the inside before assembly so the mounting surface would be smooth. The one place ya may as well start over, because it will save time..

But thankfully someone invented JB Weld. And SS washers that fit perfectly inside the 1/2" alum tube.

Anyone wanta wager if it seal up tomorrow?

Bogus. I give it a 70% chance of sealing up, but I'm hoping for 100%.

I have a coolant leak under powder coat on my truck I'm dealing with, so I feel your pain a little bit. Really hope it seals up for you.

Belzona is a far superior product to jb weld. Quite pricey though. But the best stuff I’ve ever found to seal leaks up.

I pumped them up this morning with a bicycle pump on the bench. , look good at about 5 PSI. Once I bolt them up Where the washer can't push out, I'll give him the full test.. So far 100%...

Just curious, Why not use water specific product in that area?

Like JB Weld has Marine weld that holds up in water applications.

I know JB Weld also has water weld too and the guys use them to seal tanks on machine's at work but there not under pressure they just hold water.

No water in these closed loop system. Using Evan's Heavy Duty Waterless Coolant, which has a 370F boiling point.

Addresses the hot spots inside the heads at high HP, and typically only makes 5psi or less on the system. Downside, those drips are 10cent each...

Found the other leak, closer to the outside. Looks like diegrinder tracks...

Lesson learned, don't buy your alum tube from Home Depot. No matter how big of rush your in..

Big shout out to Justin @ JH Diesel for finding me a new helper to wrap up these small jobs. My Buckeye buddy had to return home, and my ass has taken a beating lately to the point I can't set in that bilge more than 10 minutes. A young Duramax enthusiast is just what the Dr ordered...

I'm only 52. But I doubled down on my 20's and ended up requiring more $tainless hardware within myself than we have in tubing on this project. Now the parts that ain't stainless seem to be quicky wearing out.

Bending like a pretzel too long, I'm likely to kink a hose and pop a clot.

Well, until the fumblefingers mishap, were they running like you anticipated? Mild tune for break in? I was kinda hoping for a rooster tail WOT video.

It was windy and rough on the bay, so we just idled around couple miles. Fixed some leaks and tested transmissions.

Backed off the trailer, and discovered we had no fwd gears. That was an exciting start for the day. Had to adjust shifter cables at the dock. Then idled out and discovered port engine was only hitting on 6 and Stbd was only on 5 half the time.. Both had soft codes for injector control circuits that only show up when loaded. But she made it back on the trailer under its own power so I'll call that a sucess.

Borrowed a tech-2 and sorted out the Stbd side today, Port tomorrow. Weather looking good so hopefully get back in after lunch.
