Kinda reason I tried to tap a block plug first. But not enough meat and it split Into two pieces.

If I can find a thicker head 14mm like this brass LML adapter, bet it would work. Was pressed for time, so just went to plan B and did the remote filter housing on these puppies. When I get time I'll find a better sensor option with correct scaling.

Hey NC, ya know how ya can tell Banks never tested these intakes in the real marine world? Because everyone else who uses this core put zincs in their aluminum end caps..

I still plan on coating them, but fixing these little important things first.. lol

Have you thought about using a Impressed current anodes or the non sacrificial type typically made of titanium?

No please share me a link.

Everything else in the cooling system is bronze, coupro-nickle, or 316L SS. Oil and main exchanges both have zincs built in. This charge cooler core is a pretty common unit used on Yanmar and Cummins engines. So while looking up some assembly details, I noticed all those units have zincs in the caps. Without em, these aluminum pieces would likely erode in a couple years of pure salt water usage.

All of the newer / high end water heaters are using them now. It really is just a titanium electrode with a small current applied. Supposed to be somewhere in the neighborhood of a half a watt of power used.

Of the five water heaters I have at my hotel, the two newer ones use it. The others are magnesium/zinc and im sure are all gone now. I dare not replace them and clean them out because the one I trying cleaning ended up having some holes in it that where covered up by scale. Now it leaks water faster then I can fill it. That's the fun of inheriting mis-maintained equipment.

This article seems to give a good explanation

This system doesn't use zinc. It typically uses a non sacrificial metal and a small current that would normally be created by the zinc or magnesium. There is nothing unique to zinc or magnesium that protects beyond the current it creates

I wonder if a 1/2" NPT plug has enough meat to put it in one of those. I have always installed oil temp sensors in one of the ports on the oil cooler that uses a 1/2" pipe thread.

The drill size was 27/64. While trying to dig up some details on that sensor I discovered the Cummings sensor is shorter than this one. Everything else about it looks the same. So I'll try to dig one of those up check resistance on it

I'd probably buy whatever Mark likes. On second thought, maybe you don't want the operator loaded while running these high dollar pieces

Do they have Angry Orchard in a keg? I could drink that for days.
