What are you trying say buckwheat?

Who said they designed them?

Not I. All I've done in discuss them with Mahle and SoCal, and this dates back years. The problem was noticed in 2005, IIRC.

socal said they have, so did steve.......for what?

There is no piston problem...you think there is a piston problem because you melt pistons.....

top fuel burns way hotter (EGT's)than diesel and produces way more psi than diesel's ever will, and the run 75psi through huge 2 " ports. and turn wayy more RPM....yet they have no issue

Boost has nothing to do with pistons melting, if anything it should prevent it....

Proper Tuning and parts specs is the answer!!!!!

Why did curtis get his to live @ 300+ mph?
Why did mike wood get all of his land speed stuff to live???
Why does my stuff live??

Yep aluminum pistons

Gas land speed stuff works just fine, even boosted applications, no problems....only you wacked "know it all" diesel guys need steel pistons, yet refuse to find the problem and fix it...

Keep putting baindaids on to cover up the real problems, youll be asking for steel heads soon enough....:roflmao:

So tell us wade what is the answer to getting aluminum pistons to live? I have no dog in this fight either way, nor am i a bandwagoner, but you always claim to know all but you have yet to share anything. If you know then why not share with the dmax world instead of acting like a child and say nah nah i know the answer and you dont? Unless you actually dont know or havent done enough testing to know for sure which if that is the case then just say it and everyone will get off your back. The jury is still out on if youre just a loud mouth d bag or if you are really knowledgable about a dmax for me so please do everyone a favor and share your knowledge or shut up and quit clogging the forum with your childish dumb shit that adds nothing to the conversation.

How reliable are top fuel motors? I can't see the comparing a motor that we want to make last for street/strip/pulling and a race motor thats rebuilt after every run.

I happen to know that even the Mormon Missel has lost plenty of pistons , as many as Pat , dont know but dont reference that car unless you know more facts . , you thinking you know it all , yet you have ran less duramax parts than most on this site , and oh boy 50 passes and you haven't lost a piston .............................. I had about that 2 years ago on a full stock motor that had basically been rod swapped and it ran in the high 1100 hp range on fuel only ( 143-146 mph @ 5500 lbs ) so it isnt very hard to do , but i personally dont think forged will hold up to the 1600-1800 hp that some of us are looking for , not saying steel is the answer but to state we dont need any better pistons that what we have is silly , and you speak of tuning and such things you have no clue about other than what you have been told , after all if you had a clue you would be tuning your own ride ;) .

Like already stated if you are really smart enough to have all the answers then give the answers ," Because i said so " and silly quotes and 1 sentence catch lines aint going to cut it for those of us who have been out in the trenches for several years ............................................. just like the military ask a solder if his body armor is good enough , then ask a politician and the see if they are the same answer :D

Oh and wade while your at it stop with the poor me bs, everybodys sick of hearing "everytime i try to help everbodys mean to me" boo f***ing hoo. People dont just jump on others for no reason, they do something to provoke others to do so, ie. saying you have the answers and not sharing them, so enlighten us or quit whining about everybody jumping your ass

What are the egt's that are being seen by pat and others having problems with forged pistons? What are the main problems are people having with forged pistons ?

You and your constant top fuel bs. A top fueler isn't a diesel. It also gets torn down after about every run. Half of 'em break anyway.

Ever been to Bonneville? By Monday or Tuesday of speed week, half the cars have broken and gone home.

The missile has melted pistons.
Mike Wood's car has a gas engine.
Your stuff lives for an 1/8 mile at a time.
Such a dickhead, until you've actually been to the salt and run you ought to STFU.

Over the road big rigs run steel pistons.

the common denomenator of piston failures is mahle pistons.....

Get a better piston material
get better tuning.

problems will end.

oh and trent, HP is NOT the reason pistons are melting...ignorance is. BTW the mormon missle did not have piston problems related to melting from EGT heat, the freeze plugs blew out about 3/4 down the run and the lack of water in the block AND head cause the head AND pistons to melt..aND this happened after 2 successful 300 MPH passes....BTW curtis and i are good friends, we talk pretty often...

Now can steel be of bennifit on the street.....yes.....but what would i know, i get all my info from da internetz...:roflmao:

what a tard!!!
top fuel cars DO diesel down the track...what do you think happens when the mags fail?

mike woods has a duramax is all his cars...
my stuff runs whatever i want it too yep 1/4 too, can you hang, then STFU

big rigs run steel pistons for fuel economy.....again you need to get off of mcrats and guys and steve's nut sack, maybe then you would learn something...

you folks amaze me...i tried to help..im done.

Mike Woods. My mistake, I was thinking of Mike Cook (father was the "Cook" of Stone-Woods-Cook race team)...longtime racer, also puts on the Top Speed Shootout. Mike Wood's Mustang can hardly be compared to a diesel pickup.
Take your friggin' wonderful aluminum rodded thing to the salt and see. Until then it's YOU needs to stfu, turd. Be done.

Sorry to interrupt the "Wonderful World of Wade" hour, but back to a tech question....

What kind of piston-to-wall clearances can you run with these compared to OEM specs?
