Why you not got an 8.1L? you ask a question you already know the answer to:hug:
Cause I like TORQUE! Why in the world would I buy a Diesel then castrate it? I dont want to have to shift at 4000 RPM, and I dont want to have to downshift at every mole hill I come too... I wanna gross 30K and run OD at 60MPH, and I want the truck to take it. "Candy" did it for 100,000 miles.

Short Rod syndrome is a direct result of two forces:
-1: The amount of Right foot applied
-2: The amount of Load

You guys are nuts if you think your making 600RWHP and dont have short rods. I promise you, you do. Its not a big deal, its just means the rods are seasoned.

Put as much boost to that 8.1L as you do a Dmax, and see nothing but taillights...

I couldn't disagree with you more... I'd rather run 11 second passes without fear but that's just me

Rods don't bend cause of the hp, they bend cause of the torque. You think you would notice a seat of the pants difference between 1200ft/lbs and 1000ft/lbs? I doubt it.

For people shifting at 4k + rpm, does it affect your ET a lot?

I mean, with my setup, i'm pretty sure i would loose ET by shifting higher than 3750-3800... I know single turbo and few differents setup might like those high rpm shift but i'm not sure about the twin guys and other setup.

Any reports and facts of testing at the track?

Thanks

The idea is to shift at or just past peak hp. You want tto stay in your power curve. Shifting at 4k on a stock turbo "just cause" will probably loose you ET cause your well outside you peak hp and turbos map. Not saying your runnin a stocker, just using it as an example

I believed in the high rpm on stock rods till i built the motor, now im not to worried about it even though im sure she will last longer higher in the Rs.

Oh and i bent rods at 550hp with a non detorqued tune. We aint talkin just a little bent either lmao

My fastest time at the track was twinned (billet68mm/BMWS480) shifting between 4250-4800rpms depending on the gear. It's all about rev gain so every parts combo is going to react differently. My new motor is rev happy! Also have alot less issue with convertor not locking up when you run alot of rpm.

Rpms are your friend not your enemy. If you have anything other than a stock turbo you need to add the turns to keep the turbo in its map and your truck as efficient as possible. Otherwise your not going to see the real potential of the truck. I too think added turns have helped to kept my long block intact. That or just plain luck...
