And this is the problem i found out...some tuners dont know jack about what they are tuning but they claim to

this is very true... as of the last 6 months lots of 'tuners" have emerssed(sp) themselves as being the premier tuners and it is not that way at all. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

I will never understand why everyone pussyfoots around bad business/deals on forums...everyone is afraid to badmouth vendors who have screwed them etc...I dunno if its because they are afraid of being cut loose or what?

I will not comment on anything other than what I perceive as errors in tuning decisions and what is incorrect IMHO about disabling certain protections in a TCM file.

As far as your comment about the recommendations:

I have an opinion on why and out of professional courtesy will keep it to myself.

Im not really afraid. I ment to make this thread to be informative. If i would of started this thread off bad mouthing the tuner this thread would of turned into a sh!t storm and a pissing match. I did not want that so i kept it calm. So far alot of information has been shared.

The reason you see more negative about that particular tuner here than you do on DP is because some of the people in power here have a problem with him for one reason or another. Anyone who is unpopular is frequently brought up in a negative light. I did run the infamous flexy rods that he sold. I have spent a lot of money fixing it correctly, but we came to an agreement we both felt was fair. The compensation I got did not cover all my epxenses, but I take partial blame for running an unproven product. I gambled and lost; now I'm over it. It's not the first time, and I'm sure it won't be the last. In the end, I learned a valuable lesson that I will never forget.

Furthermore, I'll come right out and say that I'm not totally convinced that the tables in question are what caused the failure. I'm sure there are a lot of people that have run the tune being blamed without issue, but now all of a sudden it must be removed immediately because of imminent danger. Kind of reminds me of all the people that get all upset and worried about things like swine flu. People get sick, and parts break. Sometimes it just happens.

In the end, people recommend tuning they've had good luck with and usually don't recommend what they've had problems with. The only tuner I've ever recommended is IdahoRob because I have ran some of his tunes, and I know they work. I don't run anyone elses tunes because I refuse to pay for something I can do myself. If a "professional tuner" wants to tune my truck, I'll pay for the tune if he can make my truck faster than I can, but I doubt anyone is going to take that bet as I have a lot more free time to spend on logging and tuning than someone who runs a tuning business.

Only a couple of pink slippers wussy friends would have chimed in. We can handle that.

That is absolute billshit. You have no idea what goes on behind the doors. You only look at what you have seen with your blinders and discount anything else as hearsay. Grow up. There is some dirty shit that goes on right now my friend and you just go on believing what you want. Don't come in here preaching what you thik is going on. You have no idea.
You can kiss pink slippers every night if you want but don't bend over to pick up the soap.

Can someone explain to me why, when I ran the TCM tune in question I had no issues with shifting, even at the track?? Now, with the stock TCM tune loaded, it shifts lazy and hunts occasionally? I even get a "clunk" when it downshifts into first gear when cold sometimes. Should I have done a relearn when I changed tunes?

Guess all the tech is exhausted on this thread, so now it's going to turn into a freeforall? Sheesh...when did this site turn into the 2007 Diesel Place?

BTW, I havent had one damn problem running tunes from "he who shall not be named". Truck has nice street manners and runs fast at the track. So....explain that.

mine shifted perfectly too....until i destroyed the C2's then found out about the planetary. We probably were not running the same tune and im also probably making alittle more power. What works at 500HP might not work at 600HP and so on. I made this thread as a warning about checking your tuning and so on. But like Tony said shifting has to do alot with the ECM....people who cant tune the shifting problems bandaid it with TCM tuning.

First of all, I don't have any dealings with Nick at all anymore.

Secondly, you're right. I don't know what goes on behind close doors. If I'm wearing blinders, it's only because they were put there by someone else. If people don't post their bad dealings, I can't very well form an opinion on it, can I? You can get all pissed off at me for posting my opinion, and I really don't care. What have I posted that isn't right? Feel free to set the record straight. I'm always open to new information, and none of my opinions are set in stone. Please change my mind. Until then...

Tom,

I answered that in a previous post, IMHO it is a quick and dirty fix for a poorly tuned ecm, if you can't tune the ecm to shift correctly then you fix it by removing the de-fuel altogether. Its as simple as that, tune the ecm correctly and you don't need to disable the tcm protections.

mine shifted perfectly too....until i destroyed the C2's then found out about the planetary. We probably were not running the same tune and im also probably making alittle more power. As power goes up the stress to hardparts increases, when you make 400 HP it damages, when you make 500 HP it damages more, when you make 600 HP you break shit.

I said that nobody has to take any advice, advice is free here, paying for broken transmissions costs real money, so you doubters out there and hanger-on's to of that tuning philosophy can bookmark this thread and when your trans is dead you can know without a doubt you were warned of the consequences.

:hello:
