Duramax 6.6L:

The LBZ defuel on the 1-2 shift was done half way into the production. It originates in the TCM, but can now be fixed by either TCM or ECM programming.

I started fixing that problem about 2 years ago? before EFILive LBZ Allison support, or EFILive support of the ECM tables that affect it.

Don't get me wrong Pat the tune is very nice, good power and very smooth and layed down some very impressive numbers on the dyno (for a stock tranny) I know the number would have been much larger with the tranny complete and my fueling upgrades finished.

I just thought of somethin. Could this defuel I think I am feeling actually be just TQ managment coming on?

Are you talking about what I call traction control? If so it can be fixed either with tuning or if you get your buddy at the dealer to flash it the latest TCM tune in with a Tech II.

Some LBZ's TCM's have it stock and some don't.

Yeah Traction Control is very aggressive on my truck anyway. Even under a boosted launch when the front tires chirp the truck falls on it's face for a second then it fuels like a monster again.

I was not aware there was a new TCM tune available. I wil lget my bddy at the dealer to get it reflashed. Maybe I am not seeing a defuel just the TQ managment screwin with me?

Hmmm, now im wandering,

If i have traction control in my TCM tune?

Thought you had to be in manual mode and select 2nd gear for traction control.

If not is it hurting my shifting performance?

I just know when I do a power brake the tire light instantly, and then the truck shifts the tires will spin faster until the RPM drop like crazy and the smoke stops huffin. Under a full boost launch is the same damn thing. I am havin my buddy reflash the TCM and see if it helps.

Tuners

I should stay out of this but here goes. Tony, I tryed emailing you a few times when I was having trouble with mine not running like I thought it should. You never returned my emails. I talk to Ed alot and he said I just have to keep trying and I did. Nothing! Thats kool with me I got mine to run 10.40's also with a Ally that Brayden hepled me with(thanks brayden) and no issues yet. I have run many 10 sec passes myself without any supertuners help! Brayden has helped with the tuning on TCM and ECM so I guess you can call him a super tuner now. When you didn't get back with me(there were others also) I said to myself the HE!! with these primadona (Supertuners) I will learn it myself! If I tear it up I will fix it. I would rather replace the motor monthly than to be treated like that! Mine runs 10's and is not gutted and I will tell anyone they can do it themselfs too! It's not hard like some people will tell you. Also I would never pay for a tune that I could not change for different condition's!!! I will never pay for a locked tune and fill sorry for anyone who does. Sorry for the rant! I just got rained out again, was told be NHRDA that if I stayed they could not pay out! They would just pay for the stickers. This diesel racing is starting to suck! I don't race for money, But it would be nice to think if you do good you could atleast get your fuel money back. Thats 4 races this year and 3k plus miles with a rainout. Sorry everyone I'm just tired the BS. Jeff

Sorry your so upset,

If it was an LBZ I wouldn't have anything to offer you, I have only been playing with bigger tunes since Dipper built my transmission this spring, and I have turned down requests from other people already who wanted LBZ help, I am not where I want to be yet and when I get there I'll let you know.

I do not take tunes from people and modify them, I send out ecms and lock them to protect my original work or I am asked to travel to the truck to tune it or the truck is brought me. That is the only way I tune a truck and it has worked fine for me for 4 years.

This is how it has been since the start of my tuning and will be until I decide I am finished with tuning.

I also field tons of emails of people that want to get a tune sent via email, I don't do that, I have a spam filter on my email accounts, it is set very high and usually will bounce a message back, sorry you didn't get a reply it was not intentional. If I replied to you then I would need your email to look up your message.

If you want to rant some more go ahead, you got your truck running well so good for you. It's a big market out there, plenty of work for everyone, I would rather know my work is not being copied or passed around for free then worry about a lost sale from a person who didn't want a locked tune to begin with so in reality you never would have been a customer anyway.

:D

Have a nice day...............

The locked tuning thing is a tough one. I have a buddy with a 7.1 stroker with a 4202 on it. and it sucks that everytime he wants to make changes he has to ship his ecm. I also see the locked ecm guys wanting to protect their tunes. There has not been nearly as much " stolen tune" talk as i thought there would have been when all the tuners started building their tunes years ago.

Once an engine combo is tuned it shouldn't need a change unless the build changes.

I have customers with stock and built engines that have not sent ecm's back for years for changes.

BS!

If you say a tune doesn't need changed without mods your wrong! I'm NO tuner! I'm computer stupid. Theres only a handfull of things to change. I still agree with JoshH, I will pay whatever but I don't think anyone will take that bet. It's all hype. Can one tuner make it more drivable than others? Yep! I don't care how it drives. I want max power and only max power. How I get there I really could not give 2 shi$$! Jeff

I agrree with you. But. If your very best closest friend that you trust with your life asked you for the tune; would you give it to him knowing that he would never ever give it to someone else because he is your very best closest friend? You would and subject ended.
Want to know how many times this has happened? Every time.
How in the hell do you think pink slippers got famous? If I have something special that took me a lot of time working on when all the other yahoo's were drinking beer and watching football; why in the hell would I give them something to sell and make money on?
My own Moonshine tune was corrupted by Nelson diesel when he butchered my injectors because he tried to read the tune to sell it to his customers. I have proof of this. If everyone didn't have a best friend that they could trust with something , this would not be an issue. But unfortunately it seems to be a dog eat dog world. If I had a good tune I would lock it.

I still chuckle every time I see that. :D

the Ally can live under huge HP...........something that other shops could not do and went to a Dura-Flite to get around it.

I know of two Dmax's in the 9's both with a Duraflite. Is this dig pointed at both of those trucks?

I will not speak for Buck, but we made the choice before even building the truck. At the time of planning we made the choice to run a Duraflite. It has around 50 passes in the 10's, most being low 10's and faster. The truck weighs 6000+lbs.

The same tranny is untouched and still in the truck. We swapped a converter after 35+/- passes not because of failure, but because Ron at Suncoast recommended it and sent us a new one.

I really give kudos to Jay for the time, hard work, sacrifice, and hard money spent getting his truck to this level. I also give kudos to any allison builder that can keep it together at this level.

I cheer everytime a Dmax goes fast weither it has an Allison, ZF6, or duraflite, and feel we should root for all the GM Dmax's that go fast weither they are self tuned or "supertuned". It takes a lot of time, money, and effort to get one to go this fast. The true heros are the ones that get their hands, and wallet, bruised, busted, bloody and dirty.

Couldn't agree more. I have a lot of respect for the guys who are out there running on the ragged edge of the performance envelope. I'm nowhere near the level some of you guys are, and I know the kind of problems I've had. I can't even imagine what it's like for you guys that are really fast.

Who is it?? I came into this game too late to know that.....
Nick, aka vortecfcar, aka duramaxtuner, but I don't really know how the name came about.
