switchable tunning

So i know this has been mentioned before but how come Edge and such can switch on the fly? What are they doing that you guys cant do? Just thought id throw that out there, i figure yall have already thought about it though.
I appreciate all the work thats been done to make this happen though, hopefully yall can get it figured out soon.
Edge don't modify (or touch) the ECM, their product is a piggy back system that fools the ECM.

what about standalone tuneing cindy ?
Paul is still working on it and it will move into BETA soon - the behind the scenes work he's done in the last 6 weeks will make our product ALOT better in the future.

So how does Bully Dog do it with a hand held:confused:
I don't know - their development tools/processes and our development tools/processes would be very different, you'd need to ask BD what they do and how, but I'd doubt that they will tell you.

I know very little about tuning nore do I care to, just showing that it can be done on the fly. When I had bully dogs stuff I didnt want their crappy digital stuff, only reason i had the outlook was to change tunes on the fly, i still had analog guages. If I have to velcrow the v2 to the dash to do things on the fly then so be it:D

Our stance is if BD can do it, so can we. If it was an easy project, then there would be plenty of switchable on the fly tuners for LBZ/LMM, but unfortunately there isn't.

Another thing to remember, EFI is bringing tuning/loging to the whole GM table, not just the diesel guys. Also if I am not mistaken, EFI is a small (mom and pop type) company.

With little man power they are giving us access to fully play with our ECM, something BD, banks and others can't. Seems easy to make a hand held and load up some tunes, but most of us want tune control ourselves, and EFI is not only bringing the product to do it, but also the software, which I can only assume is one of the toughest parts.

oh and one more thing to remember, i notice the people at EFI live are here and many other places talking to us like were good friends, offering all the support they can, Wheres banks and BD at, better yet, Banks is not even here anymore.....

Time to go headhunting for the dude that figured it out:D:joker:

I am not getting impatient just wondering if this is going to happen.
We haven't invested any time on the project since the below update in Febrary.

Just an update on DSP for LBZ/LMM.

Ross has spent a number of days trying to figure out what/how to do this.

Unfortunately it's been without sucess. His analogy of the situation is that it's like going to Mount Everest, he's ready to climb, but he can't find his backpack, so can't take the first step.

It's a project that we really want to deliver, however we need that initial breakthrough to take it any further. Given the time he's spent so far, and the frustration it's caused, he'll continue to look at it over the coming weeks and months, but won't be 100% dedicated to the project given he's got LOTS of other projects that can be progressed that will add value for our customers.

Development is one of those funny things - it can take weeks to get over the smallest (or largest) of hurdles, but once that breakthrough is realised things can flow very quickly.

Below is a copy of a post I made on February 12, 2009.

In the last month Ross has invested a number of days trying to make progress. Unfortunately, there is no good news at this stage. There is however some bad news.

With developing support for the 2009 Allison (the new style TCM), 2010 OS's being released and the migration of bootloaders to V8 software to facilitate black box flashing, plus the regular support/updates that are required it is highly doubtful that Ross will have any time to spend on LBZ/LMM switchable tuning in the next 6 months.

I know it's not the news any of us wanted to hear, but at least it's clear and open communication to let you all know where we are at.

Here is an update that I'm sure you'll like...

Ross has made progress and has something moving into BETA shortly for LBZ - it will be a 2 position switch via a HARDWIRED switch not via V2.

I know it's the complete opposite to what we've been saying for the last 2 years - but hey as long as it works! At this stage switching via V2 isn't an option.

It's very EARLY in the development process, and issues are prone to pop up, but if any VERY experienced and confident EFILive users want to test this contact me and I'll see what we can arrange. Our test code is on LBZ OS 12606128 and you'll need a spare ECM pin and need to create your own switch. Existing DSP2 switches can be used, however the Pins will need to be changed.

Once we get to the stage that the code works and iron out any problems we'll port it over to other LBZ OS's and LMM OS's. By that stage vendors should have commerically made switches available for purchase.

Best news I've heard in a VERY long time!:happy2:
I guess I could always full flash to a 6128 and do some Beta testing, but I'm sure there already is a line up of guys with that OS all ready to go!!
