No time Larry.
And it was all about Simon that trip anyhow. Maybe next time......

Switchable tuning via V2 made it into public release about a month ago for LB7 and LLY. This delivers the first of 3 critical components for switchable tuning for LBZ and LMM. The other 2 are full flashing - which should be completed in development before christmas, then the writing of the switchable tunes (which will probably be the most complex of the 3).

So out of curioisity does the ECM only store the tune for the truck and control the truck and you said there is a lack of available slots or somethin, can a new ECM be made that has the available slots or the existing one be modified? Maybe its just wishful thinking :D

An aftermarket ECM isn't something that we would develop - we are software developers not hardware engineers. If someone else developed it, we may not even support it. For the purpose of this discussion, it would be like us trying to tune a Honda, Ford or some other make of vehicle - it's completely foreign and requires a clean slate for development (ie historical learnings in 99% of cases cannot be transferred between manufacturers)

The ECM stores the tune. The LBZ/LMM ECM doesn't have a spare pin to wire in a switch like the old LB7 and LLY ECM's, so we've had to develop switching tunes via another mechanism - switching via toggling between tunes on FlashScan V2. This is publiclly available for LB7 and LLY users, and will be the base for LBZ/LMM switchable.

I haven't followed this very closely (nor do I know how DSP works) but before getting EFI for my 06LLY I had a Bully Dog with an outlook and could switch on the fly. Any reason you can't just make a switch that plugs into the OBDII port. Or is there a way I could use the Outlook to change EFI tunes?

I know a guy who uses a bully dog over an EFI Live tune for on the fly adjustability but they just stack on top of the EFI Live tune rather than using all EFI Live tunes. I have always wondered why others can use on the fly with a handheld and not EFI Live.

Is this a local truck

Our solution is to switch via our FlashScan V2 hardware, which needs to be plugged into the OBDII port. I guess you could say it's a large switch :)

There are two major reasons why others (including us) haven't developed/released switchable tuning for LBZ/LMM yet.
1. Development time. This is our single biggest reason - we've had too much on our plate this year, so as other things crop up, some things need to take a back seat.
2. It's a tough nut to crack. If it was simple - we would have it implemented it in 2006 when LBZ was first released (as would many of the other players in the market.) Remember that the LBZ was the first Duramax to switch to German controllers (Bosch) rather than the historial American controllers (Delphi). Development on this controller is like learning a foreign language - you have to start from scratch again - the LBZ may as well be a Mazda or Toyota...

We are VERY confident of our method to deliver switchable tuning, we just need to get the development time to get it up and running.

I just tried this with the triple dog using EFI Live tune as stock [ 13 sec. tune] It works based off the stock tune. The Bully Dog never worked so well.

i wonder how the bully dog is setup to work. is it like the edge where it intercepts signals and falsefies them thus adding power. if this is the case then that is how they change power levels. they simply fool the ecm more. there not actually adding tunes to the ecm. again i am not sure exactly how the bully dog works.

So in theory......somone that knew what they were doing (not me):D Could build a switch that would plug into the OBDII port and change tunes like the V2? I'm just not keen on velcrowing the V2 to my dash:D

The bullydog is a programer, not a box. And can be changed on the fly even with just the hand held rather than the outlook

I Dont mean to sound like im getting impatient or anything. I know you guys are working hard and have lots of other stuff to do just trying to educate myself on the options in the time in between on the fly switching. I appreciate your work.
