i saw on efi web fourm they wher going to do entitial beta testing in the next week or so on there bench harness ans then in trucks

Ross is still working on switchable tuning for LBZ/LMM. It's not ANYWHERE near ready for BETA, and may take some months before it's ready for the public.

I think what slowlmm read is about standalone flashing. Paul is almost ready to commence preliminary testing of Standalone flashing. This will initially be on bench harnesses within our workshop and then on vehicles we have direct access to. Only after Paul is happy with the results will standalone flashing be released to our select BETA testers.

Yes you are correct sorry  standalone flashing for me would be a huge step the more i can leave the lap top closed the better. :D

Just an update on DSP for LBZ/LMM.

Ross has spent a number of days trying to figure out what/how to do this.

Unfortunately it's been without sucess. His analogy of the situation is that it's like going to Mount Everest, he's ready to climb, but he can't find his backpack, so can't take the first step.

It's a project that we really want to deliver, however we need that initial breakthrough to take it any further. Given the time he's spent so far, and the frustration it's caused, he'll continue to look at it over the coming weeks and months, but won't be 100% dedicated to the project given he's got LOTS of other projects that can be progressed that will add value for our customers.

Development is one of those funny things - it can take weeks to get over the smallest (or largest) of hurdles, but once that breakthrough is realised things can flow very quickly.

So i know this has been mentioned before but how come Edge and such can switch on the fly? What are they doing that you guys cant do? Just thought id throw that out there, i figure yall have already thought about it though.
I appreciate all the work thats been done to make this happen though, hopefully yall can get it figured out soon.

Like mike said. it elminates the need of a laptop you can store all your tunes on the v2 and load then straight ffrom there with out need your comp hooked up. basicly the last thing needed so we can leave the lap top at home.

DSP switch would be awesome, but standalone would be a huge step. I would be happy with it alone.

I know there working on it and I'm so happy we LBZ/LMM guys will have some sort of easy tune switching one day.

Edge, Banks, and other harness boxes are not programming the ECM at all - they are manipulating the input and output signals to and from the ECM. While switching on the fly with a harness box you are simply manipulating the signals differently to get the desired (if you desire what harness boxes have to offer:rolleyes:) result. DSP tuning is actually reprogramming the ECM with your base tune then taking over the spare memory on the ECM to store the other 1 or 4 tunes. Only the most necessary tables (those that have the biggest affect on power and mileage) are available for tuning in the 1 or 4 DSP tunes, the rest run from the base tune. With the Bosch LBZ/LMM ECM there are not usable pins to plug a switch into so they are working on using the handheld V2 to do switching on the fly.

Stand alone tuning would make EFI Live as convenient as PPE or other handheld tuners and we already know it is much more powerful of a tuning tool.

So how does Bully Dog do it with a hand held:confused:
