Or get a modded lbz turbo and a 480. Aren't the lbz a little better than the lmm turbo? If you go twins I'd definitely port polish rebuild the stock at minimum

towing 8k on the 468 wont be real fun unless you dont mind down shifting on any slight hill you come to.

I just know after having enough stock turbos in my hands and seeing how much Russell improved the ihi with a port and polish and how much even the lly-lml have that can be removed I'd almost rather have a port polished stock turbo than an aftermarket.

Why a 480? A 75 will spoil quicker and make enough power to destroy your bottom end. I loved the way my truck drove with stocker/billet 475. Ran 7.2x mid 11's with junk transmissions and could harldy make it smoke with 40% Inj. EGT's stay in check all the time. Absolutely no issues towing whatever you want.

I have a 68 single and it'll tow heavy just fine.. Just have to keep rpms around 2000, normally 5th gear is good to go.. Just don't wanna use cruise in any hills though..

Compounds will definitely be more friendly, but I do like the simplicity of a single and also the sound of a single fixed vane lol.

I'm with Harbin. But I'll add this, you WILL be well within piston cracking territory. And honestly with IMO, you will lose a piston before bending a rod on lbz/lmm. JMHO

i noticed 0 difference in spool up going from a box stock 75 to a box stock 80. top end had more pull though. your old 83 i noticed a little lag but nothing that held the valley charger from spooling up, you just notice it in the transition of boost where the stock one starts to peak the big one finally starts coming in strong. if anything, that may be where you notice the difference in the 75 and 80 but i never could tell. my god does the 83 pull hard up top though. i can still make 17-19psi of boost with the 83 and a total of 35-37psi at 2k rpm without trying. WOT at the same RPM i can hit 45psi and it increases as RPM increases.

yup! these kinds of threads all come down to how you like to drive the truck. all we can do is provide honest feed back and blue will have to figure out what suits him best.

480 has more room to grow plus I can get one at better price than a 75

That's my issue, I like the less cluttered appeal, weighs less plus the sound rips
