Sorry, I misspoke. Didnt mean ring. I was all flustered typing while watching my truck run haha.

Blew a hole through the piston at 530HP racing with 20k miles on the engine.

Anyways - compression is good - low but consistent on drivers side around 220. Rings ARENT seated yet as Simon said.

Passenger side is all around the board. Dan said, as Russ mentioned ( Hi! :D ) it could be an o-ring, they are going to check that. But the next step is to pull the turbos off, piping, pull the valve covers and check everything - both sides just to be sure.

Along with checking injectors, go from there.

One step at a time, movin forward :)

Ya... please no one take anything in the wrong context here.

My original motor blew a hole in its stock piston at 530HP with 20,003 miles December 28, 2008.

It since then has had a full engine build by SoCal and Twin Turbos fabricated and put on by RPM Motorsports.

It is now being finished up at PPE. I havent heard back yet today, and may not. Its Christmas and those guys have lives too - Ive been without it 2 years I can wait a bit longer. Im confident that Louis and the rest of the guys will be able to get everything taken care of and I will be driving it soon.

I really do appreciate everyone's words of support and concern here, this thread has probably been whats kept me going this whole time.

So Cal.
We used a sniffer to find it... You can take your hand and put it under the intake bridge with the truck running and feel the pulses coming out. Also you can use a mirror and see the gap under it, you can also see the threads of the bolt in the gap. We should have it off in a bit...

Its off, it was warped, was not an oring problem.

They can not surface the flange down to make it flat without changing the angle of the Vband. Its not usable is what I was told.

The Cyl 5 intake valve isnt sealing correctly allowing air out. That corresponds to the low cylinder PSI on compression test.

Stay tuned, more tomorrow.

It will be all worth it in the end. Once she's running you'll forget about all the crap. I say you drive it home once it's done, screw the trailer. Props to the guys at PPE.

I would Dave, but its about 230 miles on the highway - not sure if that would be the best way to break it in, along with not having a shop/help nearby if something breaks.

Just to put things in perspective here a bit, and we all know how much shops charge - PPE has over 40 man hours into it between 3 people in the last week - and this is before the turbos, piping and heads are coming off.

I thought I was supposed to get it back running from the LAST "shop" it was at?

Merry Xmas!

If the heads have to come off now wouldn't that fall under Guy's work/warranty ?

The thought of something going into the intake while the Intake bridge was being built/worked on crossed our minds, it will be checked when they pull the heads off and check the pistons and all that.

HGs were verified they were installed correctly and some other checks as well yesterday.

I would be doing the work, but Im not well versed enough in these babies to get things taken care of, as well as the room right now at my house or the tools or other labor help necessary.

PPE has a crew of top notch guys and the facility to get it handled, and trained eyes on the project. Theyve obvioulsy caught many other problems I or others have missed.

I havent talked to Guy yet, I just woke up but I will be calling him shortly. If theres something wrong with the head I have no doubts Guy will take care of things, but he shouldnt be on the hook for me towing him the truck, or him paying a labor shop to remove my twins and heads.

Ill probably end up driving down to PPE, getting the head, driving up to Guy and having them fix it then driving them back down to PPE. I feel bad this has turned into such a big job for PPE and I dont want to be tying up their workers or their bay idly waiting on parts.

So, injector pads need to go in, torque those down, check the heads and then reassemble and compression test again.

PPE is on it :thumb:
