Thats exactly what I DIDNT want to hear, the WD FPR is in the valley and I cry when I think about gettin in there

The 2nd cp3 regulator is brand new so I doubt thats the culprit. I bought the damn WD reg from someone on here used.... if that thing doesnt work I am going to be damn pissed.

Fuse on the cp3 controller harness is good, and it is getting power and ground directly from the battery. Connections are connected.

All I can hope for is a bad controller I guess. Ugh.

It's not fun to change but you can do it. I use the torx bits that are 1/4" drive and a wobbly. A head lamp makes it easier too

matt im sure the regulator is good...I wouldnt start pointing fingers (it was your decision to run different regulators)...but as trippin said, I doubt you will be able to get two completely different regulators working smoothly together. Who is doing your tuning???

disconnect the connectors at the ECM and start tracing the wiring with a VOM. Check for shorts to ground and shorts to ign +12v...

Something has gotta be faulting though Ben, just because I have mismatched regulators would not mean that one is defaulting to full rail.

Ill mess around with it in a bit, but probably take a break from it today.

Exactly Matt:) 2 different regulators maybe harder to tune ,But it wont max out the the cp3s.

Swap the regulator on the ppe cp3 that will rule out its the valley cp3

If that doesnt help can you reach in and dissconnect the ppe harness
then put it back to normal. Then remove your fan belt and start the truck if rail is normal its bad ground or the harness.

Have EFI hooked up and logging while doing the tests.

Also take a screwdriver and lighty tap both regulators.....sometimes they just stick

LMM has the PPE controler hooked to the ECM?

Whats so hard about tuning 2 different regulators?

One signal divided between two units with drastically different calibrations is a recipe for disaster.

Are the regs both LBZ/LMM or is one LB7/LLY?

Guy,Ive ran numerous configurations and never had them go to max current unless its a bad regulator.JMHO:hug:

My geuss is he has a bad regulator:( I had one go bad just from sitting over the winter.

OK I guess I need another regulator, so should I buy a LBZ/LMM stock or a WD (so 2 WD, one for each)?

I would just buy a stock LBZ/LMM . I am with Simon I ran a Modded lbz in the valley and a stock lb7 reg on my secound for a while with no issue's , since then i have upgraded my secound pump to a lbz reg :D My money would be that the WD reg was good when it came out but since sitting for a while stuck , my lb7 reg was perfect when i pulled it out , but after sitting for while ................. it would stick on me every so often so i replaced it .

so, should we all gang up on and send tobyk321 nasty emails now? Is that what you are trying to insinuate here?

Quite the opposite. I meant that I bought it from someone on the board with multiple posts so I would doubt that the regulator would be bad. Prob just me trying to justify that its NOT a regulator problem.... but sounds like it is :(

Going to start trying to take it off tonight.
