My opinion is that this thing has jumped the shark. That's just me though.

If you wan't to get around the weight limit thing, could you do a BCS style ranking  No really though, Weight/ET or something. Not saying it's a good idea..... just an idea.

Essentially what you have here is head's up racing that some people used every inch of the rules and kicked everybody else's ass. That's the nature of the beast.

Amen brother, IMHO sorry guys but this shit is really phuckin gettin stupid. Maybe its just me but i don't give a sheet who has the fastest stock whatever. Who likes stock shit anyways?
People with stock trucks tend to enjoy the list and want to get their truck on it. That's why it exists. I think most people like to brag about how fast they got their truck to run or brag about how much faster their make of truck is than another.

If your goal is to see how far a stock motor can be pushed then you NEED to have a weight limit. The motor will be pushed harder in a CCSB then it is in a RCLB if they both run the same time agreed? By imposing a weight limit you actually get to see who is getting the most out of their set-up.
Why do you need a weight limit? That just limits how fast you can get a stock motor to run the 1/4.

you are never going to get people to agree on what is allowed to be cut and what is street legal unless you have a 20 page rulebook. if you set a reasonable weight limit you stop all the crazy cutting of weight, unless the goal is to see who can get the most creative in cutting weight but somehow making the rules work ok keeping it street legal (and that depends on the state and how much the cops care). It just makes it really simple for a simple bragging rights list.

A ccsb just took the #11 spot he didnt cut alot of weight i say let the trucks run what they can im againest guting the interior because i dont think people would daily drive a truck like that. What are you gonna do post the serial # of the scale the truck was weighed on and make sure its been calibrated?I say stock body pannels and glass. If you want to unbolt seats IDK doesnt matter to me as long as the stock drivers seat is inplace with the seat belt.Run what ya brung as long as the motor is stock along with turbo and fuel.Lets get this over and vote on it so we can get to it.

So is a roll pan illegal?

They are in ut they don't have the proper bracing behind them. My buddy has one and every time he gets pulled over by the uhp he gets a ticket for it. Not that I care about running a bumper more or less wondering how far the street legal thing will be pushed.

You can't have a rule of factory seat if you do you knock the fastest guy off the list!

Looks like street legal = Daily driver.

You have to IMO forget weight restrictions high and low. It will be overly complicated if it isn't already. There is one class so to speak or list run what you have. There are heavier trucks higher on the list already. No need to try and make it fair when it comes to weight.

I don't think street legal would be too hard to define. We can come up with a short list to make sure a truck follows the rules without giving too much freedom but still give some freedom for people to be creative.

All exterior lights must work (passenger's side headlight can be removed for the track)
Horn
Wipers
Front bumper
DOT tires (slicks ok for 2wd)
Registered and insured
Exhaust must exit rearward of the passenger compartment

We can add that the following must be present in or on the truck:

All factory exterior body panels (aftermarket hoods and removal of tail gate ok)
Air bags
HVAC system
Factory frame must be used and unaltered
Stock style suspension (leaf springs in rear and torsion bars up front)
Stock axle housing assemblies

Looks good.

Unaltered frame? Does that mean you can't weld a traction bar bracket to it? What about relocating the springs inward for bigger tires on the 2 wd?

By unaltered I meant no back halving or shortening the frame. Those are the alterations I'm referring to. Welding brackets to them for traction bars would be fine. I'm not sure about the spring movement. I'm not sure how streetable a narrowed and tubbed truck would work on the street. I'll see what others think. You can get a pretty wide tire on a stock width axle and suspension.

We got way off on the truck, but what do you guys think about the motor stuff?

I would say allow studs if it were up to me. They dont add power. Just make it a bit more reliable.

I say no head studs. To me thats an internal modification. Manifolds, ic pipes, etc fine but i dont think studs should be allowed

I know. That's why I think they shouldn't be allowed. I think the list should be about what a stock motor is capable of producing and surviving. If you increase cylinder pressures to the point of lifting a head, you have exceeded the capabilities of a stock engine. Rods and pistons don't add power either.
