Your truck sounds mean!!! Is it the runner intake that changes the sound??? Or is it the different up pipes???

Takes me around 15 minutes to pull a turbo off, most of the time im waiting for it to cool. To be honest, if you know a good tig welder, i would buy a set of ricks reversed headers, or manifolds, and make the kit, its pretty easy. I heard one of Empires trucks the other weekend, and they still have the cackle, they dont sound like mine, or Eds, or others ive heard.

what is reversed about the headers? i thought just put the drivers side on the passenger side and visa-versa and you're good to go

I run the stock intercooler in reverse and I had AJ (IowaLLY) build mine. I love the way it looks, ease of service, and function! Makes a hoodstack even easier to install as well. I am currently running stock manifolds with the drivers side manifold pointing to the rear of the truck and the passanger side manifold is facing the front of the truck. My drivers side pipe that goes over to the passanger side and back around does not go up and through the valley like the empire kits do. I am also running much larger pipe than what Rick makes his up-pipes out of and much thicker material as well and it still fits great with very minor firewall adjustments.

Did you have any before/after effects on spool up when you went to the remote mount?

IDK....truck never had a big turbo on it before I had this installed.

You did the wraps on the up pipes and turbo housing for AJ so you know what they look like. :thumb:

Only problem I see with this setup is the length of pipes you are running. Not saying my way is better but one would have to think that the shorter the pipes the more heat is easily transferred. I could be wrong though....IDK

No offense taken. There may be a better way out there but this is the way we went with it and it spools an S400 with a 2.6 cover (even with low compression) so I'm happy. Still working on tuning and driving, but it is spooling better and better. Getting ready to try a new housing and see how well it spools (need to add gears too).

I was wondering if you were the other set I did after you posted. I was just curious if you had ran the same charger in the valley, then moved it. I don't know anyone who has done that to be able to tell the spool difference.

That's the idea, shorter pipes mean less surface area to bleed off heat but if it's working, it's working. I'm sure it's still alot nicer to work on and you could always tighten up the turbine housing to account for heat loss.

We built my set up here at sjd, Rick made me the headers to fit backwards, he said his you cant just turn around and run them, my driver side 90s out and comes right infront of the motor into the engine, but i dont run any fans inbetween the engine and radiator, and the passenger 180s and goes up into the pedestal. Spoolup hasent been and issue so far, im running a new turbo this week so we will see. By the looks of my pipes at the end of the run, heat transfer isnt a problem.:D
