In that case, if I understand your bowl idea correctly. The injectors are 7 hole, so you would need a seven petal flower cut, not four. Doing so, however, will reduce the strength of the pistons.

Well, Surfcam did not when I was test driving the products last year. It could read Solidworks files, and you could run it from within Solidworks, but it was not native to Solidworks.

CAMworks stores the CAM data in the Solidworks file itself. The posts are generated from that same Solidworks file. It looks like Surfcam has come around to a similar offering.

There are other differences, but it is more of a preference thing.

Yeah, it was a few revisions back when they started that. And yes I know what you mean, it is a preference thing. I just like infinite control over tool paths, even if it means a crappy user interface.

Don't suppose I could talk you into modeling a rod for me, I would be your best friend forever:baby::D. LOL I need to find time for dmax performance again.....

Looking for someone to try a set of these bowls cut into forged Mahle blanks.

Any takers?

Any solution to the ringland issues with the forged pistons?? Id love to do these bowls in forged mahle blanks if I didnt have to break into it and re-ring it again so soon.

Wonder if it would be possible to make a forged steel smaller than required blank and then finish the piston by forging the aluminum around the forged steel blank.

Would take someone that know both the steel and aluminum forging processes and a really good materials specialist to keep the dissimilar materials expanding at the right rates. Would help solve the cracking issues at the pin, keep the weight down some, and provide a softer material for wear in the bore.

Update- did 1024RWHP 1765Ftlbs on the cast "Fingers" pistons today. I'm really impressed with how they run and the engine tone is alot different with these. Keep up the great work!:thumb:

I can not wait to get my truck all done to see what it will do with "Fingers" pistons. Here is a picture of the truck as of last weekend. I still have a long way to go but I'm still trying to have it done for the Indy race.

Stupid question. What's the compression ratio with these pistons. I'm starting to look into rebuilding and I want to move up to 17.5:1 but delipping stock pistons will sink that to 16.8-16.5:1.

Difficult to get the steel and the aluminum to stay married without casting them together.

The steel pistons actually wear better in the bore than the aluminum.
