Oops forgot you where a 6 speed :)

Yeah, 3.42 gears and 32" tires in 5th gear = crazy topend speed! John is right Ill/In back roads are the best for exhilarating driving...:spit: Was joking with my wife about it today between Paris and Charleston, ILL on Highway 16 because I was doing 80+ and it didn't even feel like it.

I don't have video but I have a certified dyno sheet that shows it and I would like to go over to Ohio and do the standing mile with it this spring if they will let me. Give the Corvette's and other spots cars something to shake their heads at, lol.

I've got 3.42's with 31" tall tires, and even at a stock rev limiter 120 isn't hard to hit.

economy is looking good

~2900 miles +/- 50 miles
~230 gallons of fuel. +/- 5 gallons. that is what i did from 12/3-12/13
works out to about ~12.5 mpg, engine hazes little when below 150* at idle still might clear up was the miles rack up..

i was seeing 11 mpg with winter fuel with the old pistons

this was propably the hardest load i pulled 102"x114"x315" 6000lb and happen to driving west into a east blowing winds with 25-30mph winds... oil temps avg 210-230* 850 miles between two fill ups 109gl between the two.. ~7.8mpg running 60mph .

grill damge is from when i got the truck stuck in my driveway :(

My forged set are installed in the motor and now just waiting on cam and head studs to complete assembly . Wow those "custom aged " headstuds are brutal on the pocket book !! Lol

Can't wait to beat the snot out if these pistons :)

I'm ready to order just can't decide if i wanna do forged or your race cast :( I hate decisions

Just got through this whole thread, and it leaves me with some questions also. The basic principle behind these pistons is to put more material above the pin for added strength. These were made with the typical cast style pistons which will be great for daily driven vehicles. There also is a forged option which I assume is for the competition vehicles. Can you give more details on the benefits or weakness of each?

The Cast pistons are made from flat-top piston blanks. They are not modified stock pistons. They have the embedded oil gallery as well as the steel insert for the Keystone top ring. Should be good for daily driver with Moxy. Minimal expansion issues and top ring wear problems. Works well with street Twins. (that's what customers have told me anyway)

If you were looking at any other cast option, these pistons are for you. Price wise, they are competitive with the other cast options.

The Forged pistons have no oil gallery or steel insert. They are made of a superior alloy and, yes, Forged. Stronger, in general. Without the oil gallery, they also allow me to offer lower compression ratios than the cast without as much reduction in strength. However, the lack of the steel ring insert will mean faster wear on the top land. The Alloy expands more than the cast and requires a little more piston to bore clearance, thus increasing cold blow-by. Oh, and they cost more.

In general, Forged is for serious race and sled trucks. They offer that little bit more that the competition builder will want when investing $$ in a new motor and the down falls of forged are NOT a consideration.

looks good adam, glad to hear the new pistons are working well. Although why no dmax badge on the door?? :D
thanks

"looks" wasnt a priority... havent realy gotten to a point to do looks upgrades... i did have basicly two engine failures last year...

i have ran across some old GM techs that work on these and people that know they only came with a 6.5 for a diesel give some puzzled looks though..

as for noise... yes its louder then stock pistons.. but i still cant hear my truck idleing next to a 12v idleing
