Yeah would also like to see how that works. And how the install went and so on. Lookin to do this to mine just not sure on what cooler and so on to use.

So after hours of reading, I still dont get which ports to use for an oil cooler... one on the top and the one on the bottom of the housing for pre aux cooler and post aux cooler?

Ive got a case of the Mondays..

So what is the flow that is required? I have access to all kinds of industrial and mobile coolers through work (part of my sales product line). Tell me what the flow is and i can work out some scenarios for heat removal and psi drop.

i would recommend a sandwich plate with built in thermostat, around $100 from jegs etc, that way in the cooler temps/ winter (not sure how cold it gets where you are but we see -30) you arent over cooling your oil. The thermostats should allow like 10% of max flow to flow through the cooler all the time so you dont have cold oil sitting in the cooler and then shock the engine with cold oil.

just something to consider.

also go with pushlocks and good rubber hose, stainless looks nice but wears through everything it rubs against. just my 2 cents

U say just a plain universal cooler with a thermostat will work? Or is there a part number I can get from ya. I'm completely confused on this stuff for whatever reason. Sorry for all the q's. Thanks again.

How gpm are our oil pumps? 2gpm? 5gpm? And whats the difference between the LMM/
LML pump flow vs the older engines?

at 16gpm, we can use a Thermal Transfer M-20 mobile hydrualic oil coolor which would have around a 4psi drop at 16gpm and removing around 12-13000 BTU's. It is rather large at 18.22" x 14.88". I can go smaller but you are looking at increasing the psi drop and decreasing BTU removal. The width will stay the same at 18.22 but the height options are 8.88", 10.88", and the 14.88" above.

FYI, the little coolers that you can buy from Jeg's and other guys are not even close to these coolers here in terms of quality and BTU removal. I have an even higher end cooler we could use but there is no sense in doing that for this application.

I am working on calculating that to a degree drop in oil temp but I am missing a little info right now. I'll get back to you on that.

If someone is interested in trying one of these thermal transfer coolers out, I will have our pricing tomorrow on the M-20. I also stock all of the Parker Push-lok hose and fittings that you would need. Let me know if I can help out! (If I am causing a problem with this I appologize. I am not trying to be a vendor, just seeing if I can help someone put together an experimental setup)

The problem with me is that the only room I have to use is the lower valance on the GMC's. My front stack is filled with a big trans cooler, and I dont wanna put another cooler in front of the AC condensor and pump more heat inter my intercooler/radiator, my fan already works a lot in the 115* heat as it is. I really like the KB setup, just not the price. A cooler like that does not cost $600.

I do know the cooler I bought had a BTU rating of 20,000, but I couldnt get a answer from B&M about GPM, so I returned it.

Brian, you dont have to put the cooler in front ya know. Buy a good little electric fan and mount it back by the fuel cooler.

Thats what id do. Wish i had a running truck to do this crap on :mad:

Thats what I thought, but I have the transferflow tank that blocks 99% of the outside air, then my fuel temps would skyrocket :(:D

Lol it doesnt have to mount on the fuel cooler, just by it. The fan will do the cooling. Hell you could.probably buy one of mikes fuel coolers and mount the oil cooler infront of it and still have cooler oil and fuel temps than before

Got my guage stuff today and getting wire and all the stuff I need and will probably be watching oil temps by the end of the weekend. :eek:

I got my truck up and running again finally and with new stock oil pump I don't see under 30-35 psi hot and new gm oil cooler temps haven't been over 210 and I was running it pretty hard. Both my turbos are ball bearing so they do use less oil of course

Where you able to change the oil pump in the truck or did you have to pull the motor?
