Everything I have read up to now indicated that the port on top of the filter housing is 1/2" NPT. However, I found an old post (2006) on the Diesel Place by TexChris saying 'the threads are 1/2" BSPT, same thread count as 1/2" NPT but no taper, they are straight cut'.
Does anyone know for sure if the port is NPT, or if it makes a difference when using a 1/2" NPT reducer?
So, is there a specific kit already put together for us diesel garage hero's, or do you have to find all the parts and make something work?

Look at some modern semi trucks. A western star i peeked at, had an oil cooling system almost as big as the radiator(not really, it was the size of the rad in my lbz tho), the bypass filter system is just stupid too.
Tells me that dedicated tow or performance rig should have that chit too, in an equal proportion.
I was looking at adding a sensor to my insight using their (Edge) temp sensor. Anyone see anything wrong with that?

What im planning on doing is wiring in an oil temp sensor into the trans fluid temp circuit on a little toggle switch.....
No extra wiring into the cab, no extra gauge to mount, and its stealth. Just flip the toggle switch to momentarily turn your factory trans temp gauge into an oil temp gauge!
Are you guys putting in oil temp and oil pressure gauges or just a temp gauge and you are using EFI to log the oil pressure?
The oil pressure gauge on the dash is accurate. And if you log oil pressure on the databus with EFILive, its accurate to the 1 psi. (03+ trucks only)

Egt 1527f
Total Boost 79.8 psi
Drive pres 115.3 psi
Max mph 129.8
Max distance 1398'
Boost 1 51.4 psi
