That icon/smiley/whatever the fk that is happens to be funny as hell!

I could not agree more. That is funny as heck!!!!

The "thread starts as one thing, ends as another" comment was a joke people.

Paint, I mentioned Pat and Kat because its their site and they make the rules. Over at the old DP, the Admins would have just let their "favorite" do all the damage and banned everyone else. Im just tired of all this old BS coming back around like a carousel, but I guess there is some entertainment value to it.

Numb nuts is back.:baby::hello:
Aren't you the guy that reverse engineered ( fricken copied ) Suncost transfercase brace on your bosses place of work using his equipment and metal while you were being payed and said you could build that brace for 50.00?

Yes I am the guy that "fricken copied" the Suncoast brace.

Yes I did the machining at work.

No I did not use there materials.

No I was not payed.

I can build a brace for much less than $50 now.

Why do you ask Mike, you need a new supplier?? I can even machine "numb nuts" into it too for that extra pop.

Lots of folk make their own stuff, often from designs they have seen on the internet.

Not everyone advertises copying other people's work on the internet.

Are you aware there is a difference?

I am not going to name the part nor who sells it but a guy well known and respected by alot of us sells a fix for something and I directed someone I know to get the fix. She was telling me the other day that before she was going to install it she was going to measure everything and get a bunch of them machined here to sell locally.

I said to her how wrong it was because of the R&D that went into it, it wasn't right to copy someone elses work. It would be like her sinking in hundreds of hours and money into something only to have someone she sold it to copy it and start selling it for themselves. I told her that I bet she wouldn't be very happy if it happened to her.

She agreed and decided not to do it. It is one thing to make your own brace from your own design but to just copy someone elses work is wrong and if there is a patent on it suncoast can legaly come after you for the money they lost by you making it yourself. Of course it isn't worth it for one brace but by having it get out on the internet it just makes you look stupid.

With all respect Pat, by your logic the person who copies work from something they have seen online and hides it is more of a coward than the guy saying "hey look what I made at work" however I am not saying they should sell them but rather they should be able to share. That is my opinion and for the first or second time I posted it with class...so please be nice :)

Prove it.

Don't have to prove it. I started making my own race parts in 1977 after hours at the Volkswagen shop I worked at, with the blessing of the owners. Southwest Import Rebuilders. If you do your math, that would make me 17 years old. I lied on the job app about my age. I didn't live with mommy either. So I'm not exactly new to the idea of making your own parts, or doing things on your own.

And today, I'll make stuff I need if I have to. Usually if it's someone else's design, I'll buy it from them, to show my support for them. Like SuperDiesel and other inventors. Of course I'd never sell someone else's design; it would be publically advertising that I'm not capable of free thought or creativity.

Hopefully someday you come up with an original idea, and make a part of your own design, and someone will start copying it and posting all over the internet that you're a rip-off, since they can make it cheaper.

Then perhaps you will figure out what the "difference" is. ;)

With all due respect, copying someone else's work and insulting them publically at the same time as being a thief (ripoff) to me seems worse.

I guess I'm never going to understand.

Anybody who has ever ran a buisness knows why it takes mark up to survive . shoot just for liability insurance/ workmans comp for 3-4 employee's is 20k a year , plus a small shop 50k year (rent ), 120k year for wages not including your own just your 4 employees, thats just the tip of the ice burg thats alot of 50 dollar braces . figure 200k + anually just in expenses . and 3/4 less braces required to be sold at a fair 200.00 per brace ( or whatever they cost ) .

For one your pretty damn smart on this stuff. I've only been on these forums a year and a half and have learned more from your post than any others.

Well from reading your posts you seem more qualified than 90% of the people that have the Tech badges over there. Thanks for clearing up all of the mis information by the way, too bad everyone started whining when you came in to clear up Toypullers bad info.

Im by no means always right...ive made many mistakes before and some I paid dearly for. Ive learned lessons the hard way, and making mistakes helps EVERYONE. I only know the stuff I do today (which is so little compared to the huge amount og knowledge out there) by making mistakes and learning from the best.

I still remember when I first joined DP, one of my first threads/questions was "I just got my Edge, but my MBRP exhaust wont be here for another week, is it ok if I run the Edge just on level 1 or 2 with the stock exhaust? Is that going to hurt anything??". Funny how I was worried about that stuff back then...now its just "ehh...I dunno...try it and see if it works!" Im no different than everyone else, we all help each other here. :)
