Your not gonna do it on our tracks here in missouri, plain and simple, better do gears or be ready to unlock. Even if you do gears keep your finger on the button just to be ready.:thumb:

quit a few,, to hold and get a good hook in fourth on a tight track with stock gears think >850 IMHO
What size fuel lines are you putting in to get into the 850 park? Seems like stock won't make it happen with a nice pump. I've never heard where you go bigger after what HP level on a 24v.

I think our tracks are similar to yours Rob, very hard and tacky almost like pulling on concrete. I can't hang 3rd in 8,000lbs class with my setup now:eek: Thinking of building a full time puller soon though.

Thanks

I got question, I was thinking about the other day, for some of you expert pullers

Your best guess, about how much hp would you need to hang 4th gear with stock gears, and 33/12.50 STS's (no duals) without unlocking the converter on a hard pulling track???

I know there are a ton of variable to factors in but what is your best guess??

Thanks

900+ at the wheels and twins and you will never have to unlock it, no matter how big of a terd sled it is or how hard the track is....:D

They aren't running stock gears.;)

I realize that, but he acted like unlocking the converter was the only way to go, yet never unlocked his when powering out. It just seems like you loose everything through the converter once it's unlocked, also seems like you break traction once you unlock it.

Injection lines or feed lines? We run a Columbus Diesel Supply built 13mm p pump and .120 lines and tubes to "big" custom built CDS injectors. Supply is 5/8 line all the way to a y-block where it necks down to I believe 1/2 and dual feeds the pump. If you stay VP pump, most pump and injector builders want to see .093 lines and tubes minimum at say a 7x.013 or about a 250 hp injector or on big pumps making something like 450cc of fuel and up. Everybody has their own opinions on this though. Making the switch to early though can slow down delivery causing lope, excessive smoke and even a loss of power in some cases. This answer your question?

Try running 900hp with stock gears and let the motor drag down in the rpm and not unlock the converter and see how many rear ends you go through in a season.

Unlocking is for the last couple inches when your truck would have normally fallen off the charger.

Exactly what I was thinking and why I asked the question. If it does take that much power I think the whole truck would be torn to shit every pull.

Travis from the vids I watched of you pulling you lug your truck way down sometimes and don't unlock(I know your running 4.56), do you break very often?

We never had a unlock switch that worked.

Bens (duratothemax) works awesome, the unlock/lock version also works awesome for locking the highstall converters that dont want to lock all the time. I was having problems with my converter locking mid track, now it locks as soon as i hit the button every time, and the unlock works without limping the trans too...

Videos can be deceiving. I never lug my truck past 3400 as I am still on a stock bottom end.

So do you unlock at 3400 or do you let off?? I knew u were turning some high RPM trying to keep the bottom end alive. If you don't mind me asking what RPM are you turning going down the track?

Depending on the track, anywhere from 4100-4400. Yes I normally unlock around 3400.

Yea, I have tried several attempts to get ahold of him to pick up a few for some customers but can't get a call back to order...I know that they work good...
