Thats about how diesel drag racing is around here, thats why i went back after a year off.:D I just couldnt stay away from the dirt, the competition is too fun!

This is the only thing I really hate about living in the Mid West. I like racing pulling is fun but its easier to have a DD/ Racer then DD/Sled puller.

Isn't that a solid front axle in that ODL truck?

Yes, but I set the stops up so the front end just comes off of them to go down the track... same theory, I always wanted to do the same to my yellow truck, but couldn't see welding or modifying my driver... I had also contemplated making a solid block that went in place of the rubber ones on the lower a arms, bit it wouldn't have been adjustable and would have had to be removed to drive on the street.

My IFS puller actually had negative angles just sitting, the pumpkin was lower than the outter knuckles.

Does your front lift up alot? I was talking about starting off with the pumpkin being higher.

When your pulling your cvs arent flat anymore if your front end is raising. A little angle isnt going to kill them. As long as its not setting on the stops i dont think you will have problems.

I understand they wont stay completely flat. So as long as the the front end comes off of the stops and and the torsion key bolts are out so there is no pressure on them I shouldn't have a problem with anything breaking if I start out with the pumpkin higher then the cvs?

Gotcha I guess i thought comparing a solid axle to an ifs is totally different cause the ifs comes up alot more but in theory they are the same.

Mind posting a few pics?:D

I had a hitch that I think may be similar to what you run. It was deemed slightly illegal...

Pics can be seen in this thread,

Ill take some pics, mines very similar. You can actually slide a regular hitch inside my tubing and pin it, thats how my clevis works too. Thats what Scheids told me "reese" style was for them, if it slides in and pins, your good. I actually bring a regular hitch with a ball on it with me, just to slide it in incase someone complains.

the reg cab p pumped 24V. Injection pump and trans issues kept it from making it's debut last year. Trans is fixed but I'm tired of dealing with this pump. It's going up to CDS end of the month to have them line it out. You can only adjust gov springs, throttle linkage, idle screws, etc so many times before you're ready to blow the phucker up haha!!

I got question, I was thinking about the other day, for some of you expert pullers

Your best guess, about how much hp would you need to hang 4th gear with stock gears, and 33/12.50 STS's (no duals) without unlocking the converter on a hard pulling track???

I know there are a ton of variable to factors in but what is your best guess??

Thanks

To NOT have to unlock at the end of a hard hooking track in 4th with stock gears, I agree with matt. It'll take substantial power to pull that off! Why not unlock at the end?

You should become a fan

I agree with Pat. We became a big fan of it this year. Stock gears with 33x12.5s and we always unlocked it. Not real sure of our power level. The charger is gonna be a big factor too. Depends if it's one that will like to lug or will just fall off.
