I am very well known in this forum. I am the "guy" who tells it like it is! Good bad or indifferent. I also own a diesel shop and have worked on retrofits and hot rod builds for years. I just started a new build for a drag week car "with a Duramax" that is mine so if shit hits the fan it on me. I will run the rods and be your huckleberry. I will pay for them after I have run the motor for a few thousand miles. You can have a contract that I will sign before you send anything. I also think that there should be a less expensive rod and have wondered for years why there hasn't been. I was one of the first guys to run Eagle rods back in the early 80's and they proved change the market. I can have this motor running in a month and it will make plenty of power I assure you. I will pay shipping or whatever you to get this rolling. If there junk the world will know! If there the real deal I want to be the source in the US and get my slice of the pie! Lol

Off topic but will you post a thread of what you're building if you haven't yet already. I'd love to see it.

No crow here.
Personally I'm not convinced they are worth a pinch of coonshit as there seem to be too many similarities to other cheap rods out there known to be Chinese and not endorsed by proven rod builders.

Would you endorse a rod that came out of the same factory as yours did? I can think that's where this is is going...

Rods

They may or may not workout. If they are what they claim then I think they will. I will take them to my machine shop and have them checked size and roundness before I do anything with them. I will also check the rod bolts for stretch to see if there ok. Not to defend this guy or cheap rods but do most know that many rods and cranks are made over seas? Some are finished here in the states and some are not. I give the man the info he wanted do time will tell.

If it was built to the same specs, with the same or competent QC/QA people overseeing it absolutely.

What l think is happening here is a manufacturer used a Chinese factory to do just that. And then maybe some or all either didn't pass the grade, or someone else paid the factory to build the same but done the Chinese way with cheaper materials, or with no QC at all or minimal QC resulting in a similar looking but inconsistent and cheaper in both quality and price piece. It happens all the time. Think Oakleys you buy in Mexico.

That said if these pootroll rods are indeed stand-up pieces that will work for the DD 1000HP and under club at a lower cost then right on. And likely the top builders will also need to do a price adjustment to compete. Good for us as long as it doesn't hurt quality.

I paid half of what most do for built rods due to special circumstances so I can't complain, but a lower cost product guaranteed for up to 1000hp would have fit my build perfectly and these are priced correctly. They just need to be more adequately and intensely tested to be proven they will indeed hold up.

I use led lighting in boats on a daily basis and I can tell you that Lumitec LEDs are great but incredibly expensive (120 a piece). I buy the West Marine brand LEDs (19.99 a piece) and they say Lumitec on the back...;) they are exactly the same, ZERO difference just cost 15% as much as the name brand. Alot of retail is name branding others products now so it wouldn't surprise me if this is the case here...

This statement right there has so much bullshit behind it.

Not here to make Money? Did you miss the part where I stated the cost and that we where also contacted by this company? You made it happen? Only thing I see that you made happen is bring it to the surface to the public knowledge. Many shops where aware of this product well before you had any part of it, everyone else just opted to have no part of it.

Yes many products of our industry are started overseas but being overseas from country to country all has there own standards and requirements to abide by.

Although that video makes some good points, it misses the biggest one. Government. Taxes and over regulation is why there is a China problem. The free market would work well if it was allowed to work as it's supposed to. It's a government problem, not a consumer problem.
