Just wanted to give an update. I have almost all of the parts and Im putting together some prototypes on the breadboard here.

As soon as I test it on the truck then Ill finish drawing up the PCB in CAD. Im still doing some figuring as far as the gauge mount though.

Ben, is it possible to manufacture them as 3 separate components and have the lcd and switch both mount in a different location then the pcb and its housing? I would like to have the pcb to mount under the dash, the display anywhere I find appealing to me, and the switch the same instead of one big clunker display/switch/pcb combo. I had someone make me one early this year and it was very nice but just 2 big to mount discretely anywhere.

I can try to do that. Its not going to be completely flat though; something that you could just stick on the dash and have it be flush.. The LED display in itself is ~1/2" thick. So its not like its gonna be a flat switch panel.

I got the initial prototype done...my method that I figured out for sending the DSP signal to the ECM seems to be working perfectly. I still have to finish writing the programming to drive the LED display, but so far it cycles through the DSP tunes perfectly when datalogged with EFILive. Hopefully early next week Ill have a finalized prototype and not just a ghetto "proof of concept".

what about like right where i used to have mine mounted?

A) too big/useful a spot to waste on just the little switch IMO.
B) people with regular cabs, extended cabs, and snow-plow-prep packages have that spot already taken
C) in my own truck, I like having the cubby too much to give it up. :)

Ok, thanks Ben. I had more of a plan to cut a hole for the display screen and mount it behind somewhere. This way it will sit flush and look "built in" so to speak. Plenty of places where this could be done. Once you get it all figured out I can get with you on making it happen. I will buy one, then will gladly mount it and send you the pics and maybe sell some more after. Let me know.

ok guys need some more input on some things and additional options I can program into this switch.

Would you guys like to have a "valet" switch input on the module? IE, Ill provide an additional wire coming out of the back of the DSP module that, when grounded, locks the truck in the "stock" tune. So even if you press the "up" and "down" buttons, the truck will stay locked in stock mode. Even if the truck is restarted or the battery is disconnected, it will still stay locked in "stock" tune as long as the "valet" input wire is grounded.

That way you can either hook it up to a key switch, or you can just put a secret toggle switch under the dash.

In normal operation the LED display will show 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. "1" being stock. But when locked in valet mode, the display will show "0".

IMO this would be a little more ideal than the internal valet mode that EFILive provides. At least on the LLY trucks, I have never found EFILive's valet mode to work correctly. I dont know about LB7's. Also, as far as I know, when you put it in valet mode you are basically putting the truck into limp mode which gives you a huge rpm limit and make for horrible driveability. With my DSP5 switch's valet mode, you are simply locked in "stock" tune.

Basically there will be only 4 wires to hook up with my switch. Ignition power, ground, DSP5 switch signal, and valet switch signal.

Another thing I could add is another input that, when triggered, could force it into another tune temporarilly. This might be useful for nitrous or something; say you could have tune 4 for max power fuel only...and tune 5 could be a nitrous-specific tune. I could add an additional input so when you hit the nitrous, the DSP switch will automatically go to the nitrous tune, and then when you stop spraying, it will automatically switch back to whatever tune you were in previously.

Launch-control/staging could be another useful input. IE, you could program your stock tune to be "perfect" for staging, and set it up so when you step on the brake pedal, it goes to your "launch control" tune, and then when you lift off the brake, it goes to your main race tune. The DSP-staging on the LLY's doesnt work, and its not available at all on the LBZ/LMM trucks...

What do you guys think of that?
