Got the Cam and Crank keyways cut last night , so hopefully have some time this weekend to start re-assembling. here is a quick cell pic of the Cam i took this morning . Just dont let your wife catch you putting your dirty camshaft on the washer to take a picture she wont be happy :rofl:

Is it the fact that you take pictures of the dirty shaft or is just because it is on the washing machine that make them mad?:D

I like the green Trent.

Anything else you doing? threaded freeze plugs? New oil pump? Spot weld on the water pump?

Both :D

No not much else , re-using oil pump , What are guys spot welding on the water pump , the gear or nut i assume ? I am pulling off every nut even if i didnt touch it and applying lock tight and re-torquing just to be safe , cant think of much else but am open to sugestions ?

I believe Pat made a post a while back about a water pump impeller that, when it was pulled out of the engine, you could see it had moved on the shaft. Apparently they are only pressed on from the factory, but on the replacement pump he had the impeller TIGed to the shaft.

mine has no blow by.:D

Have you done a compression test?

Obviously I wouldnt want Trent to something that is not needed....I feel strongly enough about it on his race motor that I believe it is neccesary.

Maybe because i used forged slugs that it made the difference?

Short block is finished and ready to accept heads , have to go see if my valve springs showed up to see if i can finish my heads . I'll tell you what , i cant wait till this is done so i can clean the floor in my shop , after tearing down so many motors lately , and several trans build over the last month , my shop floor is looking pretty pitaful  , getting excited though and think its looking really good , will touch up the block and paint a few things but want to get the heads on first and motor sealed up .

thanks for the thread

one question for you though...are the rods completely balanced to match weight all of them? how many grams do they typically differ coming out of the box new?

Sorry, that I came in late on the thread. Just curious.
