Is it just me, or are those truck graphics "different" in some way? They are so dang bright compared to the truck that they almost look photoshopped in the pictures.

Tom, it's not you... Yes, the graphics are "different" in that I used 3M reflective vinyl for the text... It really looks cool at night. I wanted to have a unique look to fit a "one of a kind" truck...

Cool. I like it too. Makes the truck really stand out, not that its performance doesnt do that already!

Update

Got the cage certified to 8.5 seconds today, now have to get Rob and Nathan licensed to drive in the 9's. Thinking ahead, no use getting it to run that fast if we have no one licensed to drive it.

Good to be proactive than reactive. You could always get Neens up there to drive it if Rob and Nathan dont pass. (Yeah, right...like they'd fail at that)

How does one get licensed to drive 9's, anyway? I dont think theres a Driving School for that, is there?

I think he means he's old enough that his eyesight/reflexes may not be fast enough. But then, I dont know how old Ken really is....heck, he could be 45.

As for the requirements, I was just curious....it would never be something Id actually attempt.

Our track wants 2 - 300' passes, 2 600' passes, and 2 full runs in the 10.3's or faster. I'll try to find time this Sat. to make some passes.

I'm coming up on 65 and a far third place to either Nathan or Rob for reaction time and reflexes. Yes I'll drive the truck, and yes I have no doubt I can get a license, but I'd just as soon let them drive in these big events. Driving isn't that big a deal to me as it would have been 30 years ago. I guess age does that to you. A person may have to be 65 to really understand that. Being involved and seeing what you were planning and working on for over 2 years come to fruition is very satisfying. I guess another way to look at it is any team in any sport wants to have it best people on the field, no different in high stakes drag racing. And by high stakes I mean mostly bragging rights.;) sure as hell no money in it.:D

Thats one reason I no longer race Sprint Cars! It was pretty hard to keep up with everything, without a commited "team". Most don't realize the prep and up keep, to keep everything safe and in proper working order. Thats what I dread again, if I do build a commited drag truck:(.

I understand to an extent! I do wanna drive what i work on, but still, i get "it". I never once drove our pro-mod, I was the Crew chief/tuner/engine builder, etc. But i think i got more exited and shaky nervous than my dad, the pilot! Very, very satisfing! I had not really done much in the way of engine rebuilding before, specialy not race engines but i'd freshened/rebuilt the Arias all myself with no problems! Last rebuild, we bought some Titan full-roller valvetrain to replace the arias iron crap that ate parts, well our motor was a converted short-to-tall deck and had custom heads, so nothing fit right! I slaved for hours of precision fitting this crap to make it work! When all said and done and fired it up at the track and she sounded absolutly evil nasty, had the whole track and other pro-mod'ers attention! I felt 100 foot tall! Very very gratifying!

Not to thread jack, Team Max'ed Out FTW:D

I dunno about that....you posted a pic of your "pit crew" over in the "Thank you ladies" thread....Id say JForce would be jealous of you!

Ken, hope I didnt offend you about age. Its completely understood that you'd always want to best people in the important jobs. Whats that they say about "old dogs" though?
Honestly, it doesnt take age to truly appreciate accomplishing a goal you've worked hard for. What your team has done is nothing short of impressive, to say the least.

Oh hell..you can do that in your sleep. Good luck, have fun, kick ass!

You certainly didn't offend me, hell I'm pretty proud I've made it this long the way I've abused my body. At this stage of the game there is still a lot of tuning and tweaking to do. When I drive and get back it's usually, "did you log it" no I forgot to hit the button. "What were the egt's and boost gauges reading when you were going through the traps?" What gauges, I had all I could do hanging on to the damn thing. Those are the usual questions and answers when I'm driving.
