Passenger side
all glow plugs in while doing the test
8 pulses/compression cycles each cylinder.

1: 360
3: 350
5: 300
7: 310
Getting ready to do driver side.. though 6 pack says ill see similar readings..

Ouch... Did the cyl quit adding more pressure to the gauge by 8 cycles?

Wow. And engine number 15 bazillion bites the dust for Adam.....

Sorry to hear man. Those numbers are terrible. But I'm pretty sure you already know that......

As in NOT 90° from the pins, more like 10:30, 1:30, 4:30 or 7:30, if the arrow on the pistons was 12 o'clock. During the power stroke you don't want the thrust load of the piston (think piston skirt area) to push on the ring gaps. But you don't want the gaps over the pins either, or they'll twist.
Idk if you caught jeeses response to me putting ring gaps at 12/6 o'clock which "was" a habit of mine for years..

Sucks? Yep.. good thing is.. this will be cheaper than the others..

Already have everything but piston rings on hand.
Now the question if.. mahle traditional rings or total seal gapless 2nd rings

Just buy a Ford maybe. The amount of engines you go through you'd fit right in with them lol.

Don't go too big on the cam, it makes the truck a pig down low.

That cam looks sane/good, just something to be aware of. I have a fairly extreme cam, and while I can tow with it, I have to be above 2200 RPM at all times if I want to see any boost.

Its the smallest they make, and drop in fitment.. Id honestly like to see one with 112-114 lsa as i dont spin enough rpm to really take advantage of scavenging of a narrow LSA at upper rpms
I was supposed to talk to Ryan there but he hasn't made it back from vacation yet

I don't like wide LSA cams, only reason they do it is to keep down on overlap with big duration lobes.

Even with a narrow LSA in the 100-105 range the duration is so low on these diesel cams there's still hardly any overlap.

BUT you'd have to ask the cam manufacturer about the actual overlap and lobe centers, LSA and duration is 1/4 of the equation. I highly doubt that cam you listed has intricate ramps or an asymetric design.

I know gas uses narrow LSA for two reasons bleed of dynamic compression at low rpms and increase scavenging at upper.

Apply that on OEM side use narrow LSA to reduce NOX emissions. That come with increased compression
The cam in my BBC is 208/[email protected] .475/.500 with 112° lsa flat tappet vs roller alot bigger than OEM dmax cam

While i dont have Hamilton profiles or known overlap. Engine being an engine less overlap more efficient/responsive at lower RPMs the engine will be

I fail to see how a little added overlap will bleed off compression to the point it will be lazy on the street. You can go from virtually 0 overlap to almost 30° with minimal difference. Bleeding off compression more comes from the ABDC closing point of the intake valve. If you are that worried about street ability on a mild cam, just leave the stocker in it. Not running a vgt anymore is going to help your case too IMO

I don't think he was worried about a mild cam, I was just cautioning him not to go too extreme, and things got off topic and technical, which is one of the reasons I love this site.
