We have engine displacement taxes in my province, so we see people pull big trailer with the underated vehicules instead of buying a pickup. Gov has our best interest at heart yaknow:hmm:

No, Adams in the US. I was referring to the poster above you talking about displacement taxes.

So why doesn't the op (can't remember his name) invest in a kodiak. I have noticed all he does is haul equipment it seems.

Couple reasons...
1 is money. Initial buy in.. I don't have it..

2 4500/5500 basically the only thing different between them and a 3500 is frame axles and brakes. You get same engine/transmission and a truck that's roughly twice as heavy..

3 4500/5500 is substantially heavier with not much more capacity.. I can put 7,000lbs on my 3500 right now and gvw of 15k.. A 5500 looking at maybe 10k cargo and gvw of 25ish. The 5500 is almost twice as heavy gvw wise and I don't have much more capacity..

Might not seam much.. I have increased gvw by 60% and cargo by 30%.
Come time to renew registration, that goes up drastically, along with fuel tax goes up as well..which is all done by wieght..as I have to raise my GVW just to haul the 20,000lb cargo I do right now..36,000lbs gross with my 3500.

IF and I mean IF I go to a bigger truck it would have a industry STD 9 littler variant engine, class7/8 transmission and axles and be capable of running at up to 60,000lb... I had a M2-106 spec out shipping wieght was ~11k with 20g of fuel on board.. Plus 8-900 in fuel wieght, all my cargo/tools etc I'd would easily add 3k to it before I even left on a run...

I dont think a class 4 or light 5 truck with basically same engine/transmission that comes in a 2500/3500 would be a smart thing.. Overhead goes up and cargo capacity at beast stays the same or goes down..

The dmax/Allison is/would be maxed out at 40,000lb which I would be pushing 45k just to haul 20k on deck with a 4500/5500

No offense taken. The bigger truck debate has been hashed out on two different forums ;).

I see you have done a lot of thinking on this matter. I figured they would have a much higher towing capacity than that. Of coarse I didn't look into what they are rated or how much they weight. Just wondered.

Where's it at? What's it hold in place?

While coasting I put tcase in neutral shut engine off noise stops.. Start engine put back in gear noise comes back...

I can't remember which one it is, I think output shaft. They break off then get ground up and take out the pump, etc..

If the back clip broke behind the output bearing, not so good things can happen. You normally see the issue though as it will be distorted

See earlier post.. While moving with tcase in neutral engine off noise stops... Comes back when you put tcase back in gear.. I also don't have a NP case it's a MP 1226 oil pump is on main rear shaft..
Edit.. Just got to a Walmart In Union city TN..

Which is groved to the rear case.. The rear most snap ring is groved to rear.bearing...
