After reading all this I'm a little disappointed to be honest. I have Mark's tunes and have received nothing but great customer service and plan to put in a pump and charger this summer from him.

For all of you saying he should just get in line to wait on a warranty claim with a new charger I think you are just a fanboy and wouldn't be happy either. I think that would be an acceptable answer months down the road, but not days after a purchase. I find it hard to believe any of you would buy a $2k+ tv from Costco, have it fail in a few days, them deny a return and tell you we have to send it out for repair with an unknown return date and be happy about it. If you liked the product, but understand duds get out, you return the defective unit, turn around and go pull a brand new off the shelf and be on your merry way.

Honestly I would have expected Danville to send a return label with the understanding that if they determined it was an install/tuning issue it would have to be paid for by the customer. Then communicate a (reasonable) time frame in which it takes them to inspect the unit and make a determination. Because I understand that a small business can't just blindly send out a new unit under warranty if it clearly was damaged by install or other factors.

The whole reman/new argument is worthless without knowing the whole process. So as long as it ends up with a new cartridge in the same "new" housing does seem acceptable. It's not like it was a used housing machined with a new cartridge...but I digress.

All in all I think there is a valid argument for the poor communication and the labor cost for removal and reinstall. The labor isn't even the focus of this issue as most idiots who blindly play with their trucks. They would all be screaming bloody murder about labor and I don't see that here, its more of shit happens, but it's how you react to your failed product.

It's still early and I hope there is a good ending here.

I’m not reading 45 pages of this but is there any explanation as to why the turbo failed? I have run the crap out of Marks turbos and had 1 break. I sprayed 200hp worth of nitrous through an old 4094 that was already being pushed beyond it’s horsepower limits. It was my fault and Mark had it rebuilt and sent back to me in no time. I have had nothing but excellent experiences with him for the last 5 years. I’d hold judgement until someone figures out the failure point. I’ll get a laugh when it turns out an oil supply line was kinked during install.

as ive stated prior, install was not the issue. i personally know this.

Fair enough. Just interesting to see someone who has helped so many people over the years get picked apart for their customer service. Curious to find out what was wrong.

We’re all waiting. For as much knowledge and how many industry experts frequent this forum, including Mark and I’m sure Larry, I’ve had no reply from Larry, Mark or Jason to my email I sent two days ago. Again, I’m a small fish in a small pond....

I couldn't have said it better. Lack of communication is the biggest problem imo.

I think Mark will come through and repair the turbo. What I see is you can't expect it to happen overnight. Alot of these companies are busy. I had a problem with a part this winter and it took me a month to get a replace, no big deal for me. One thing I have learned along time ago in this game, with anything performance oriented, don't daily your toy. If you do have a spare vehicle. Thats why I've always had two vehicles that way you can let the companies do their thing and get out the replacement parts.

Forgive my ignorance, but what goes into “testing” a turbo before it’s sent out to whomever? Do they finish building it and then mock it up to an engine and run it or what?

Just to clarify, after the MAP sensor sees ~X amount of boost, I have set the vanes to open up accordingly. I've tuned hundreds upon hundreds of VGT compound setups over the years with no issues. Its not rocket science. Yes some tuners set Min Vane Position way too high if a modified charger is ran as a single, once a atmo charger is added to the setup, those tables MUST be adjusted properly to keep, boost/drive pressures, turbo shaft speeds in check. If forgotten you're looking at problems. Yet some hack tuners cant get modded VGTs to work so they get way to aggressive with the vane/boost tables which also leads to catastrophic failures.

Ken stated to me that on the test drive right out of the Seans shop door, the truck felt super lazy compared to the previous charger, also was making a odd noise that he didn't expect it to have but figured that was apart of the new charger as it was built from someone else so wasn't knowing what to expect right of the bat. That threw a red flag after he mentioned what it acted like right out the door. This build will get back on the road shortly hopefully:thumb: Never know some UPS driver could have butterfingered it unloading it.. No offense Tom lol

Where’s the popcorn emoji? I’ve been told by Sean that he’s had no update as of today from Danville but that they told him yesterday it was supposed to go back out yesterday though not sure on shipping speed or arrival time as to whether it would be shipped ground, overnight, 2 day or whatever else.

They’ve not updated him as of today as to what’s going on so we’re left to wonder whether it’s in the mail or when it will be shipped. VPS sensor was damaged in shipping so need another one of those as well as another relearn too. They also told him they would send him pictures and cause of failure assessment which he has not gotten yet either.

Regardless, I need to go get my trailer back next weekend from California and I would like to be driving my truck by late morning next Thursday. Probably not going to happen per usual.

On another note, went down to discount tire today and checked out my new Method 309 Grids and 325/60R20 KO2s and they look sweet. Going to get those mounted up as soon as I’ve got the truck back and see if I have to do any more trimming of my valence or whatever.
