Most likely cruise around 2600-2800 with WOT at 3200
I'd say your cruise goal is pretty good, but I would shoot higher for your WOT goals. Low RPM's seems to be the general consensus of where stock bottom end parts get hurt. Raising the RPM's up helps to lower the torque while keeping the HP, and keeps the rods there normal length. I'm probably only around 400 to the wheels with my LB7, and even I moved my redline up just to be safe.

Really wanted to run stock LML HP levels to start with and see how things go.
Reliability is top priority, speed and range kind of go together.
We're the same way down here in the summer the gulf is generally slick enough to run as fast as you can. I have an old school 40 scarab I restored a few years ago, it has a race fairing instead of a windshield and we used to run it out for quick box of red snapper opening morning, but the wind at 65-70 bothered some people, I could never get enough.
As far as the d max goes, in a marine set up any significant power increase would call for built short blocks, which is fine but I'd like to see it run stock first

We use big beanbags all the passengers lay down in the back and two to three folks ride on the captains seats. It's literally so comfy I can fall asleep on long rides out. The. We just throw them in the console when it's time to fish. Me and the old man do most of the driving. Normally we set the auto pilot to troll around a rig (usually at night) and then the bean bags come back out and everyone relaxes till a big yellowfin hits.

I'm like you, stock your boat should run really well with 800hp and #6s. Figured out a rough idea on prop size yet?

Its crazy how many older riggs are being refit now, I just finished a contender fish around, took it completely apart and made her new again. It seems the high price tags of the new riggs over 35' seems to be pushing people in this dirdction. The fisharound has about 200k in the refit but a new (if contender still built them) one outfitted like this one would push 300k...

Yeah this one was at Will Smith's ( phantom boats) the other day when I stopped in to check on some rigging he was helping with.
It's the old Benehana race boat from the 80's.
Some guy bought it in Miami and was getting quotes on total resto and big power.

You might want to consider calling SOCAL, and see if he can do a custom cam for you. Do some port work on the heads, and move your power band up. That way you can limit your bottom end torque(where rods tend to get shortened), and still get your HP goals up top where you need it.

They are machining the heads for LBZ injectors, the cam he recommended widens the power band and changes the firing order.
Would changing the firing order require me to change anything as far as electronics?

Nope, the tuning has to be adjusted, that's it...

You are really going all out, that is going to be one hell of a rigg brother. You doing it yourself?

Don't you have to repin the 2 injector plugs to change the firing order? Or did somebody figure out how to change the firing order in the tuning? As to changing the firing order, many feel this also helps the bottom end to live better. I have no experience with it on the DURAMAX, but I know they started doing it years back for race engines. We had one in a small block chevy, and it completely changed the way the engine sounded. Seemed to flatten out the torque curve and carried it up higher.

Kory can change the firing order in the tune. Or you can re pin the harness.

Guy told me I just have to switch the wires in the harness to reflect the firing order

Said they tend to break the crank around the #2 bearing.
Firing order ends with #3 then immediately hits 1 and 2.
Not sure if it's a big deal running normal power but....
