Are you sure......???

You cant just put LML pistons on off-the-shelf carillos/crowers....so those "high-horse trucks" must be running LML rods too.

I can't find the thread, but I think that it was DTS running them in some of their trucks. The rods had to be machined to accept the LML pistons, but it was/could be done.

I'm gunna keep looking for the thread:thumb:

Now drive it like it's a customers on a test drive!!! Dounut shop here we come.

Hahaha. The donut shop.

I won't have all the parts to make it drivable till sometime this week. And I only work on it on Saturday. So hopefully this weekend I'll be able to take it for a test drive. Key word.....hopefully.

Why do they have to be off the shelf rods? Camomax posted in the monotherm piston thread DTS has two LB7's and a LLY running LML pistons on carrillo and crower rods.

LML approximate prices from the dealer

Rods $45 each
Pistons $23 each
Rod bearings $5

And no, there would be no additional machine work involved. You can drop a LML piston and rod into any duramax, you cannot put any piston but a LML piston on a LML rod and vice versa.

Have part numbers for those parts? Looks like GM changed their catolog and it's even harder to find parts..

For those needing some numbers I did some digging,

Rods- 980627987
L Pistons STD- 19256948
R PistonsSTD - 19256949
OEM rod bearings- 97250338

I was quoted 65.76 per rod, 23.39 per piston and 8.65 per bearing, total with tax would be 851 :spit:

That connecting rod bearing part number will not fit LML rods if you buy new rods. That is the part number for the lb7 to LML with first gen rods. First gen rods are no longer available. The only LML rods available are 2nd gen rods and they take a different bearing. I found this out after ordering all my parts, I went to install piston assembly and found out the bearings were different. That difference set me back 2 weeks on assembly.
