No cheating.. Only allowed to use images submitted by other members as reference..

Yes the one with arrow is our extra tooth. While the two small holes represents our crank center with #1 TDC. And compression stroke being hole at top which aligns with our crank keyway.

I just did the count to pickup again on assembled engine. Share video in a few.

LBZ and LLY/LB7 versions. Only thing I know is off is the bolt hole size. Everything else is pretty damn close based on what I can Physically measure off the one I have here.

Little teaser of what i've been working on. A version #1 or testing board if you will. Proof of concept to work out bugs before making more. There is a lot of dead space on it so I know it can be made smaller. And adjusted to fit in the existing enclosure with the same OEM connector

Theoretically any way this is what they would look like with the timing marks ligned up. The software I am using is very basic. I can't make them spin or anything like that. Also I have no idea on the pressure angles of the teeth for each gear.

And I had to model up the crank gear as well... fortunately I have one here on my desk.

Now we just need to see where the sensors are in relation, and we'll have a perfect model! This is exciting to see unfold.

I wouldn't even know where to start.... I am sure some one has a 3D engine model from SEMA. Maybe some one like Russ at RPM Motorsports. I know he was modeling this stuff when he was about to design a new aftermarket block. I don't know if any one here talks with him out side this forum?

I tried the scan thing with a customer yesterday and I was having difficulty getting accurate results from the parts. So I basically reverse engineered it with some Vernier Calipers the best I could. Then I would over lay the messed up scans to check things and try to pick up the angles of certain things.

My brother and I are going to be rebuilding a LB7 soon. If we don't get the answer before that, I'll use a paint marker and figure out exactly where the sensors point at #1 TDC. But that's probably a couple weeks out.

What ya'll think I been doing with that bore scope past 3 days, checking the oil level?? LOL 👁️

Its gonna be fairly easy to exactly locate the sensors once we know the specific tooth count vs crank & cam keyway positions. Cam is easy, but the crank a fine line on exact tooth to TDC .. So once we get it digital, we can verify against live capture data.

Up until now, I've always been guesstimating all these counts to run ECM's on the bench. Tooth counts have done been laid out before by by the LS crowd. But seems we the first to actually map it out on the 6.6L.

Next weeks hack, see if we can run a duramax using an E38 or E92 ECM. 💪

There is 43 teeth on the crank gear that is pressed on the crank. The cam gear has 86 teeth on it. In my model I even put the timing marks on the gears....

The cam dots are directly inline with the keyway slot. But the crank itself is 6 teeth off from the keyway slot... Then there is reluctor on the crank... we know Ken said 26 was TDC on the motor.

Edited to 26... I wasn't paying attention again...
