Im looking at Fords if i get a new truck this winter  I have a good friend who had a 17 L5P that was in the shop more then it was on the road with emissions and/or other issues. So he traded it for a 18 and at 5,000 miles some clutches went in the transmission  Anyone else heard of problems like this?

I also love my l5p. I had some weird shifts and a lurch while breaking when it new but after they did a " emissions update recall" it all went away. ive put 17k on mine. I think it passes great. yes I would love to have the speed limiter removed. my only complaint is the regens pull a decent amount out of the fuel mileage.

It’s 98 mph... I know that’s fast, but sometimes you just want more. And when passing and it feels like you put the brakes on, it’s annoying...
Had a few weird shifts on mine. I think I’m going to do the line pressure solenoid delete first to help protect the tranny.
But I truly am happy with this truck, and I’ve been a Cummins guy for a long time...

My 5.9l Cummins plumb runs outa rpm at 110.. no speed limiter required.. lol

Unless they upped it, you are correct on 98mph. I hit recall button on a LMM customer's edge one day and can state these trucks are good for 142 with that removed...

Yeah all do know that the person who crack this chit isn't a professional tuner correct? So there is no exclusive on the how too. Possibly more than one person payed for his service.

Just putting that out there for consideration...

kid, your right that this all sounds shady, but the truth is that HPT's is the one who is doing the flashing. That was the big hurdle. Doesn't matter who is doing the actual tuning, it's getting that flash file in there and having the ECM run it that is the big break through.

FWIW - a guy here knows this truck and the owner, and yes, it's an L5P.

I wasn't questioning the truck being l5p, just that hpt isn't only ones working with an unlocked ecm right now. I know from friends they have bigger interest in the corvette, which is also locked by same type encryption. So I see this as a practice run for what's to come next from HPT.

Now you can bet all the other players will be following suit if they plan to do any GM modules in future..

142! Wow!!
Not sure my Cummins ever saw 100. But it would pull the hell out of things.
This L5P just rides so damn good, 100 comes quick. And I’m sure it would outpull my Cummins without thinking twice. Lotta tech in 17 years

Just saw that on Facebook too. Those are impressive numbers. Crazy to think that it’ll be a 1100 rwtq truck with basic bolt ons. Makes me wanna dump my lmm and lly for one.

They were also able to get past having to go to the dealer for a relearn on the ECM. Things are looking better.

How heavy are the L5P trucks? I feel like they're heavier than the old GMT800 & 900 trucks?

Asking just as a reference for how fast they might be at those power numbers. :D :coolspot:

Few hundred pounds heavier but the extra torque should take care of that and then some.

I’m excited to see what that motor can handle!
It was just said a v8 will never be competitive in the UCC... I have a feeling this might change that:D
Our luck they will probably grenade blocks at 800 hp:roflmao:
