Unfortunately, it varies station to station... the vehicle either needs to be equipped with an alcohol content sensor or have a virtual flex fuel table active in the programing. You also need slightly larger injectors than a standard gasoline engine.

I figured as such but since the vehicle seems to demand high octane I thought that maybe there could be a benefit. As for the larger injectors, isn't that just pushing the throttle further 😂

What about using E85? That stuff is supposed to be at least 100
Most newer cars fuel systems can handle E85. Most I found in ca most stations are well over E70. You should tune it for E85 and you may need bigger injectors. But if you throw a gallon of E85 with a tank full of 87 it’ll be fine just fine

You would be surprised what the duty cycle does under heavy load... a stock GMT800 for example uses a 28Lb injector IIRC. for the standard gas application... But the Flex Fuel Equipped ones use a 34Lb injector. The stock injector for a gas is already around 80-90 percent Duty cycle under load. any mods and its easy to go over 100% duty cycle. The Flex fuel on the other hand, I don't think we hit barely 45% duty cycle with a small cam and ported heads on standard gasoline. But switch it over to E85 and that changes...

The Cooling effect of E85 while making a pull are pretty sweet too!!! You can actually watch the coolant temp gauge drop on the cluster.

I wonder if there is any hidden E85 tables in the tune that can be turned on like some have found in others. Of course as you mentioned, likely still need E85 injectors. The lower BTU will still mean lower MPG but the power and drivability may improve

If they use that same ECU on any other platforum that does use it, it is possible. In some cases though its not as simple as turning on the switch in the general tuning software. Sometimes you need to get into the code in the background as some of it is missing from what is available in the general stuff we have access to. Some of the operating systems for the GMT 800 can be like that. In that case its easier to flash a known E85 operating system in.

My buddy has an 03 3/4 ton with the 8.1L running an 06 operating system with E85 enabled. Had to switch the throttle pedal and TB to the 06 as they are different but it's fully functional. Even switched from the virtual flex fuel tables to the sensor.

If your not aware, the virtual flex fuel tables work based off O2 sensor feedback. But there is an option to enable a physical sensor. You just have to plug it in to the correct pins.

Alright boys, I’m headed to Baltimore, Maryland tomorrow morning for some training at ATI Monday and Tuesday. Suggestions on motorsports things or things gear head would want to check out?

FYI, never been on the east coast and seafood ain’t my thing. Could be interesting

Shit I didn’t realize DC was an hour away. Probably going to have to make that trip tomorrow.

I didn’t get to spend nearly as much time as I wanted to at the monuments but it’s something I got to check off the bucket list. I’ll need to come back with fam and actually hit the museums.

Walked the Korean and Vietnam memorials, Lincoln, Washington, stopped at the white house (regardless of the president, that building is iconic), walked by the department of interiors, octagon, and other monuments before my phone was about out of juice and no store would let me plug in to charge for 5-10 min. So it was then phone battery roulette to see if the Lyft driver would get to me before the phone died .

I paid my respects and am grateful to have made it there to see what I saw.
