Well Maybe not... I think its probably a fair deal dependent on that lien paperwork.
Wasn't really wanting to go back into an LB7 even though they are stupid easy to tune. The under valve cover injectors kinda ruined it for me with having to go back in multiple times for either failed injectors or shorted out solenoids. I know we have SAC injectors now but it doesn't fix the solenoid issues I experienced. Tempting though
I am working on assembling and LBZ right now. I plan to swap my LLY completely over to an LBZ in the future.
Oh, I see what your plans are now. You are pulling that engine so you can send it to me and then since you still need your truck you are putting that LBZ in it, right? Did I miss something? 😛

LB7 engine at least. Did he post the VIN? $8500 kinda high IMO but you never know. If it was a crew cab it'd be worth $15k LOL

He didn't post much. No vin. Definitely a little high for an LB7 in my opinion too. If I get another truck it's probably going to be a regular cab so this one almost hit the nail

Is it close enough to make arrangements to go see it?

Maybe go look it over. See what the paper work says and offer him like 5K

Yes. Probably less then 30 minutes. I'll see if I can get my brother to send him a message. Don't have FB

I see a totally stripped down, 5500lbs drag truck in someone's future. Nice thing is, with an 03+ truck, you can run damn near any Dmax drivetrain you want. Im partial to LB7 myself. (duh)

So....today happened. This morning, Roni tells me that our son Kole and his wife Britt are coming into town to pu a chair and do some laundry (their w/d setup comes in from Maytag on the 30th). She then looks me square in the eye and says, "You've wanted a larger TV, lets go get one." Whhhhaaaaaatttttt?!?!?! So, the kids get here, we go out to lunch, then to BestBuy....and come home with a new Samsung 75" QLED. Im still in shock.

That's kinda what I'm visioning. Get rid of all the unnecessary stuff. A/C, headliner, all the plastic in the dash, radio, carpet, etc. Barebones. Then do a DSP2 with a simple 450HP for daily driving and a 800+ (or whatever funds allow) tune. Would be fun to get on that 10 second 1/4 mile list 😃

I'm not opposed to an LB7 if the price is right. I appreciate the "do as it's told" tuning the LB7 has VS some of the later years that can fight you and requires so much work to get them to behave. Plus, the less emissions the better

Took a look at that truck today. What a piece of junk. Bondo repairs all over the cab. Rear window was replaced and installed with what looks like home Depot caulking. Passenger door with a large scrape / dent running the fill length. Interior was in rough shape.

Seller claims the original owner brought it in for a no start condition. Shop replaced the FICM with a used one and rebuilt the filter head. Got it running. Then the transmission started slipping so the customer asked to have that fixed too. Shop got a used transmission from LKQ and swapped it out.

Shop claims they are owed $7560 in expenses and customer couldn't pay. Supposedly paid half up front before work was started but wasn't able to come up with the remaining. Original owner then basically walked away from it.

Then someone else apparently put a $500 deposit but never showed up

Not sure how the shop thinks this thing is worth the $8500 they are asking. And the sell is supposed to be an auction per DMV

TX of course
Yes. Maybe I'd go for $4k max. Then live with the body work or put minimal repairs into it. Then take it to have the trans built. But not for $8.5k
Ya I'd do $4 after having a lawyer look over the paper work. To much fraud on vehicles for me to take a chance on that. I almost kind of question that they're owed $7k still after the owner putting down 1/2 for a used trans.

Another option would be for the seller and I both go to DMV and have them look the paperwork over and if good then do the title transfer and purchase right there with DMV signing off on the completed lien transfer. Would probably be cheaper

If original owner paid half up front, then I'd offer to pay the rest of the bill, provided it's under $4000. Shop should not be making a profit off it like they think.

That's kinda the angle I was hinting at when talking to the seller. He didn't quit get the drift from what I could tell. Plus, per the law. They don't get to keep anything beyond the shop expenses. Anything above their bills goes back to the original owner. So it doesn't help them to try and sell it higher than what they are owed. Which would be $3780. So a $4k offer would cover their costs. But I suspect they were planning on pocketing the balance
