Jeff glad you are ok. It's sad the world is filled with dishonest/cheating people. I'm sure your customer will understand the situation and hopefully will appreciate your efforts/risks to protect their vehicle.

It seems as if cops forget that they are there to "serve and protect". Thieves should have their hands cut off that way they can no longer steal. Those who get government assistance should have to take drug tests & work for municipalities picking up trash to earn their benefits. Makes me sick that honest, god fearing, hard working people get shafted so much in this world while our government goes deeper into debt for the sake of enabling lazy people to live long enough to get their vote.

Maybe this grand theft auto had nothing to do with drugs but it is very probable drugs played a part. Here are some stats that are pretty sad for our future : Data obtained by AP shows that homemade meth is on the rise in metropolitan areas.

— St. Louis County had just 30 lab seizures in 2009, but 83 through July 31, putting it on pace for 142 in 2012. The city of St. Louis had eight in 2009 and is on pace for 50 this year.

— Jackson County, Mo., (which includes Kansas City) had 21 seizures in 2009 and is on pace for 65 this year.

— Meth lab seizures have tripled in the Nashville area over the past two years. In one case in late 2011, a man and his girlfriend were accused of recruiting more than three dozen people, including some who were homeless, to visit multiple pharmacies and purchase the legal limit of cold pills containing pseudoephedrine, a key meth ingredient. The couple and 37 others were indicted.

— The Evansville, Ind., area has seen a more than 500 percent rise in meth seizures since 2010, with 82 in 2011.

How do theives steal these so easy/FAST (spare key via VIN), force/break the ignition cylinder, etc? Is there anything we can do to prevent it?

In this case it was probably still running or the keys were in the ignition for it to happen that quick. Sucks who thinks it's gonna happen you have to have your guard up all the time

yesterday was a bad day for me too. I looked at my bank account and found that someone hacked my debit card and spent over a $1000 out of it. Lucky for me, I think the bank is covering all the fraudulent transactions. Not as bad of day as yours, but it sucked for me. I will like to purge the country of these pieces of **it!

Holy shit Jeff! Coming from a town of 20,000 people it's hard to imagine not having the police around when you need them. It's a shame that 911 is completely useless in rural areas. Glad to hear you're OK and I hope that justice is served.

I hope the customer is appreciative of what you did to try and stop him. You could of just let him go.
I hope this wasn't at your new shop. Its not a good sign. Time to invest is some serious cameras and maybe a hungry Rot trained to go for the nuts.

X2 on buying the truck back

^this...lol!

Dude that sucks! We had a neighbor that had his truck stolen out of his driveway one night by a couple of tweaked out kids. They ended up totaling it out, and he didn't get any insurance money because he had left the keys in it or something stupid like that...

Good luck with everything and I hope it all gets figured out.
